Description a couple of days ago (maybe yesterday?), a fellow celtic knot enthusiast had a tutorial get selected as a Daily Deviation, and it made me itchy to do a tutorial of my own. i'm not sure if this one is going to be understandable, much less helpful, but i've at least gotten it done. i hope you like it!

Thank you very much for finding the time to write this tutorial. I found the tips about the reconnection and "all one continuous line" very helpful and made things easier to follow.

I dunno what i will use this for/in/on, but use it i will. I just want it to be part of something else, instead of just the knotwork

I love celtic knotwork, and I think I started playing around with it about a year ago, but until now I never managed to get beyond doing the same simple border ever again...
So, thanks for posting this!

Having done a celtic knot tutorial also I find they interest me, just seeing hwo others go about their knotting! I think this is probably one of the most unique set-up's I have seen, and they do result in very beautifull and unique knots.
The fact that you do not start int the middle might make some traditional celtic knotters uncomfortable but then again it is for those who are still trying to figure out their own way! Very stong symmetry in these!
For the tutorial I think you could do with a couple of in between steps. Some people might want to know as to how you come up with the shapes you draw on the inside of your circle, maybe a few more steps of adding those in between.
Nice tutorial though, clear and organised! well done and fun to read!

one-rook In reply to AtarAtis [2010-09-19 16:46:43 +0000 UTC]

thanks so much for the critique, it's helpful! i see what you mean about the extra steps, though i do know i'd have a hard time explaining how the shapes come together. they're honestly pretty arbitrary - i sort of just put lines wherever there's enough space and make them angular or curved depending on what kind of aesthetic i'm trying for.
thanks again!

AtarAtis In reply to one-rook [2010-09-19 19:22:16 +0000 UTC]

no worries!
When I worte mine I just tried to assume whomever read it had absolutely no clue, so every step of the way needs to be told if they want to skip one it is up to them. For your shapes you can always give some suggestions...
