Description
Not all Ogres are the hulking 1000lb 10' beasts. Some are comparably lean, though still carry the bone structure indicative of their intended weight.
This Grunts, or rather, runts, may be a result of Poor nutrition, lack of resources, youth/adolescence, or any combination of time/food equaling to their stunted or delayed growth, as well Some ogres simply lose the genetic lottery in terms of girth.(Or win, from a human perspective, as an ogre Runt is likely seen as a lot more preferable to the hulking obese monsters that are the average ogre)
This Ogre Grunts/Runts usually make up the bulk of cannon fodder foot men, raiders, pillagers, etc. Though calling them a butcher is seen as a sign of disrespect to the butcher clans, they fight similarly, though usually with less skill and more brute force and speed.
They stand around 9 feet 750lbs but can be even shorter and/or leaner than that.

Ogres tend to garner that reaction, I'd say they're misunderstood... But... They're really not.

Personal gallery mostly, Some of my friends and my wife do tabletop style Roleplays with this little person setting, ruleset is weak, but the lore is fairly deep lol. Just for fun basically, nothing serious .

Still wouldn't really call him a runt. In comparison to another ogre, yes, but if he goes anywhere else he's still a giant

Some exceptions, Giants, Minotaurs, and Trolls mainly, but yeah, in most of the world he's still a big hulking brute.

I've seen some pretty tiny trolls, and some really huge ones, they're odd things. Giants are giant to everyone.
I'd imagine being slim, even through less attractive to fellow ogres, would carry some advantages? Less food consumption, probably faster movement, maybe general quality of life improvement? Not that it's something they'll care about, understand, or want.

Indeed, my trolls vary in scale as well, but the -tiny- ones are usually at least around 6 feet. Rarely shorter.
(The big'uns being anywhere from 12-15feet)
Yes definitely, probably why the ogre runts are the footsoldiers, they have the lightness of foot(Relatively speaking anyway....) to lead the charge while the more important hambeasts play command roles are at the least use the runts as meatshields. Though a large ogre can carry it's weight well and have a sort of snowball effect with forward momentum(Much like how grizzly bears can run at great speeds but can't turn easily or run long distances.)
The runts have agility, ease of movement, and endurance on their side.
In terms of quality of life, ogres are much like other fat animals in that they are adapted to their size(Think: Hippopotamus, boar, etc.), larger bone structures, organs, and thick joints mean they can support the weight without being sickly as humans would be.
That said, ogres definitely don't care. It's all about excess, and greed. They want the most food consumption, to be the biggest they can be, and value weight/momentum/power over agility.
Ogres are not great people.

They sure don't sound like nice people. Ogre runts and Zerglings alike deserve better.
But... all the more fun to hunt. "I caught a big one!"
"They're all big ones..."

The ogre runts have their day. In a -3rd era- setting, which is more -multicultural- more moderate sized or "natural" ogres fit into society much better, without the selective breeding pressure of -THE DOME- ogres overall lose some of their more extreme mutations and sizes, making 9-10 foot buggers like this the standard.
As for wanting to bag a big'un. this is the fella you're looking for:

Though I'd hope it's trophy/sport hunting only, since nothing besides another ogre should ever eat that rotting meat..
