Ties That Bind will have a ‘Functionist’ universe plotline, in which Jazz is a rebellion leader instead of Optimus (who was earlier executed by the Senate for ‘treason’ after having the Matrix ripped out of his chest) so I had to take the chance to redesign him for the plot point!

He was slated for Shadowplay after the Empurata, but was saved before the procedure could be done by Optimus and ends up being Optimus’ closest friend who had to take up the reins of leadership he definitely didn’t ask for when Senate’s tactics got increasingly more murderous.
