Description I'm 8 months pregnant here with my daughter. This photo was taken by a friend of mine [link] and retouched by me.

Originally, I posted only a few photos from this pregnancy series, but now I'm going back and picking a few other favorites. I hope you don't mind.

Another with the infamous veil. I love the stretched out look to this one, as though I'm just walking along this long, empty hallway, just communing with my daughter.

Thank you!

I bellydanced for seven years or more, but stopped late in my pregnancy and haven't really started up again. I feel a little burned out on bellydancing, and hope to explore African dance!

African dance is awesome! Where are you again?

Jenaba, once of Domba!, is based in Michigan (I believe) and she is simply SUPERB! I took a workshop with her and I've been eager to get more of African dance ever since. She's a non-stop riot, and I don't know what she drinks in the morning, but she has more energy than anyone I know. I believe she has a troupe in MI.

I'm in Austin, TX. There's a dance studio close to my house that offers classes. I just need to get off my rear and check them out! I wish I could take from Jenaba. Maybe she'll come through and give a workshop sometime.

A memoir type book called "We Thought You Would Be Prettier".

Althought there's a BIG chance I may put it down in favor of the new Gregory Maguire book, the SEQUEL TO "WICKED"!!! It's called "Son of a Witch" and I just got it yesterday, a gift from my dad. YAY!

Of course, now I think I need to read "Wicked" again.

What about you?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

xXminceXx In reply to only-zuul [2005-10-02 09:57:41 +0000 UTC]

"We Thought You Would Be Prettier" - sounds like a memoir I would prolly read. What's it about?

Teehee. All of those Greg Maguire books are on my reading list! What a fabulous gift from Dad! I assume they are just as excellent as I thought they'd be?

Well, I just finished a fantastic one - "Pigs in Heaven" by Barbara Kingsolver. And "Helter Skelter", the story of the Manson debacle told by his opposing lawyer - very enlightening. Right now I'm reading a couple - Anne Rice's "Sleeping Beauty Trilogy" and "Don't Know Much About the Bible"(which makes some good points but is kind of preachy and cloying). I plan on starting a third here soon, but I haven't chosen one yet. Any recommendations?

I'm gong to cheat and paste in the book description from Amazon....

She thought she’d have more time. Laurie Notaro figured she had at least a few good years left. But no–it’s happened. She has officially lost her marbles. From the kid at the pet-food store checkout line whose coif is so bizarre it makes her seethe β€œI’m going to kick his hair’s ass!” to the hapless Sears customer-service rep on the receiving end of her Campaign of Terror, no one is safe from Laurie’s wrath. Her cranky side seems to have eaten the rest of her–inner-thigh Chub Rub and all. And the results are breathtaking.

Her riffs on e-mail spam (β€œWith all of these irresistible offers served up to me on a plate, I WANT A PENIS NOW!!”, eBay (β€œThere should be an eBay wading pool, where you can only bid on Precious Moments figurines and Avon products, that you have to make it through before jumping into the deep end”, and the perils of St. Patrick’s Day (β€œWhen I’m driving, the last thing I need is a herd of inebriates darting in and out of traffic like loaded chickens” are the stuff of legend. And for Laurie, it’s all true.

Basically, it's a lot of essays on her life and experiencing. Like Erma Bombeck, only updated (and not about her kids).....very, very funny in parts....

I haven't started reading my new Maguire books....I've read all of his, though, and "Wicked" is by far the best...I'll let you know what I think of the new one!

I haven't read any of the books you're reading/just finished. I MAY have read the "Sleeping Beauty Trilogy"...is it older? If so, then I probably have. There was a time when I read ALL of Anne Rice's books, but haven't in years.

I'll think about what you should read next!!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

xXminceXx In reply to only-zuul [2005-10-03 17:52:45 +0000 UTC]

Not Erma Bombeck..what, no septic tanks? "I want to kick his hair's ass!" haha. I totally had to add that one to my book list.

"Sleeping Beauty Trilogy" is definitely older - I think it was released in the...80s? Under a pseudonym - A.N. Roquelaure. I'm actually not a huge Anne Rice fan(yet)though I started the Mayfair Witches series, which is pretty fabulous.

I had to choose something to read last night(tho I'm definitely still open to suggestions), so I closed my eyes and dug through my closet. lol I emerged with "The Vanished Man" by Jeffery Deaver. I love most everything he writes, though I especially love his Lincoln Rhyme series. I've been hooked since "Bone Collector." Ever read the book or see the movie? Both were surprisingly good.

Ah, yes, definitely read the Sleeping Beauty Trilogy. I own it under the pseudonym. For a time, I was collecting all signed, first edition copies of her work. The Vampire series is still her best - back when she had a good editor.

I did see Bone Collector, it was creepy! Never read the book, though. I'll have to!
