Description I'm 8 months pregnant here with my daughter. This photo was taken by a friend of mine [link] and retouched by me.

Originally, I posted only a few photos from this pregnancy series, but now I'm going back and picking a few other favorites. I hope you don't mind.

It's interesting to note in this photo that I had planned all along to use this white gauzy material, and it just barely worked at all (this is one of the few that I think passes). Then I pick up that colored silk veil on a whim to cover myself between shots, and BAM, we get a ton of photos. Just goes to show you that happy accidents are often the best part of photography - and art!

Wow. Looks like I +faved this a while ago and didn't leave a comment. A very bad habit of mine.

Anyhow, you do look beautifully maternal in this, with prehaps the most basic and oldest human connection, between a mother and her child. Love this pic series.

Awwwww!

Looking back at my own pregnancy, recalling feelings this photo brings up, I find myself remembering how strange it was to be involved in a partnership/situation in which something that was so "other," so separate, was also so integral. Here is your body, and there's another body inside it which we, at some level, *recognize* as being separate or we wouldn't feel the urge to cradle the area with our hands like you're doing in this shot. I mean, we don't hold our own elbows this lovlingly!!

Oh, I agree. I couldn't keep my hands off my stomach. It was so interesting to be in public places, but in my head, I was inside my body with my child, always aware of what she was doing inside of me. It was a beautiful, very strange time.

That reminds me of a book I read by John Varley (one of my fav SF writers); one of the races could commune telepathically with their unborn children in a sort of primitive gestalt of emotion and imagery. Very cool!

LOL! I don't know a single woman who would want to....maybe if I could be pregnant for just one day and then not and then pregnant again....but not forever!! I was miserable shortly after these photos were taken!

All this series of your maternity photos are wonderful. There is some sort of light that emanate from you.
But this one is for sure one of my favourite. It's beautiful the way you're looking at your daughter, and the way your are caressing her, and at the same time protecting her with your hands.

You are so right.

The guaze does not seem to do you justice and almost detracts from the image in my opinion. I think the color in the other wrap just shows how vibrant you are and adds just the perfect feeling.

I do know My biggest fear in the world is that something awful would happen to my son. I couldn't bear it. Now If I can just get him to adulthood without screwing him up too bad! lol (that would be fear number 2)

LOL! Actually, I thought to say in my later postings, that my daughter is actually 21 months old now. My "regular" crowd knows that, but you wouldn't, so I started mentioning it in my later submissions. Oops.

I love every minute of motherhood. My daughter is a joy. And yes, I'm STILL excited. Every day.

Omigod...this is just stunning. YOU ARE SO BEAUTIFUL!! I just had my daughter Izzy this past May. Enjoy the experience...I am still in awe over the whole thing. Life is truly amazing when you are living it for someone other than yourself...from your description, I'm assuming you've had your baby? Did you have a boy or a girl?

My daughter is now 21 months - time is going to FLY for you. I love it more than I can say. She's my first, will be my only, and everything in my life is different because she's in it. I know you understand me.

Izzy is short for Isobelle...and yes, I know what you mean. My life has totally changed and all for the better. She brings out a side of me I didn't even know was there

She will also be my only...was recommended by the doc not to get pregnant again after several complications that included having to get blood transfusions afterwards I was sad at first...but now I just focus totally on her and I don't feel too badly about it.

After all, one child is miracle enough...my own mother adopted my sister and I so I can appreciate the fact that I was ABLE to have the one.

I love that name...there's a Bjork song that uses it. I always like Isabeau, from Ladyhawke, but my husband wouldn't go for it. It's a good thing, because Lila fits her perfectly.

That's funny. I have a print by an artist named Paulina Stuckey called "the tiniest spark" that's from that very song. It's so beautiful. I always wanted to do a bellydance to that. I have a fantastic dance mix of it. Shall I track it down for you?
