I couldn't help but notice that in your journal, you said that your outdoor work wasn't as well recieved. And to that, I have to say: why not?
True, the lighting isn't as controlled. And sure, the setting isn't as intimate as being indoors. But I feel like outdoor work gives the artist a chance to portray even more of a story. As it is, in this photo I think you did a wonderful job. Even the lighting, though beyond your control, fits the mood of the story. If I'm guessing right, I'd say it was cloudy when you took this picture? Overcast days are the best for outdoor photography, unless you want sun light in your picture.
The bottom line is this: Your outdoor work is as good as your indoor work. It's just a little different. Keep up the brilliantness and let inspiration guide your art.

Well, the assessment is based on the feedback/views/etc. that I receive from my outdoor work. There's a noticeable disparity between the indoor & outdoor shots.
Still, I don't plan on giving up outdoor photography. It's a challenge. For now I've only lowered my expectations a little.
