After hiking along the ridge for a while, Marook stopped and turned his head to listen across the valley. Pulling out her binoculars, Sonia scanned the area her tokota was pointing at. She stroked his mane, then flicked her view upwards a few degrees. Soaring across the blizzard fresh snow was a small pack of very large tokotas. Sonia smiled as she watched them work together to chase their prey. For a moment, she stared at the white sphinx female, wondering how the creatures were able to stay warm through the snow storm. Awed, she moved her binoculars around, looking at each tokota as it ran. It didn't take long for her to spot the tracking collar; that erased her sleepy smile. None of these animals was supposed to be collared. Sonia let her binoculars rest on her chest, supported by the strap around her neck, and scrambled onto Marook's back. "Come on, we'd better get back to camp."
