Right. In the fandom worlds, people who romantically link two characters from a series like Harry Potter are called 'shippers'.
If you write fanfiction about these pairings, or are just referring to them, they're usually given a shortened name or initials. For instance, in Harry Potter, Lily Evans/Severus Snape = LESS. Severus Snape/Hermione Granger is SSHG.
Incidentally, a lot of ships (on the water) have names beginning with 'SS'.
