So, after seeing some of 's wonderful recent drawings of mythological heavy-hitters, I was motivated to work on this piece of my own that I've had sitting on my computer for at least a year or two now. I was just going to clean up the line art (which, admittedly, I could have done a bit more thoroughly) but I thought, what the hell, might as well color it too. Plus, I've been generally unhappy with the more dull, matte colors I've been using, so I wanted to try being more colorful. I think I accomplished that and I'm actually pretty pleased with the result. So yeah, in the future, I think I'll try to keep things more colorful.

Anyway, for the picture itself. I had this idea for a fighting game, kind of like Primal Rage. The playable characters would be the biggest and baddest monsters from each mythological pantheon. The general story would be something about a dying multiverse. Each universe would have one native religion (i.e. a universe where Greek mythology is real, a universe where Egyptian mythology is real, etc), but each universe would be dying (from some undecided threat). Things have gotten so bad that the only survivors of each universe are the strongest gods (Zeus, Odin, etc), escaping on their strongest monsters. They all flee their own universes and find themselves in some sort of inter-dimensional surviving pocket world. Setting the stage for the game, the remaining gods command their beasts to do battle, to see which pantheon comes out on top and who survives the cataclysm.

When I drew this, I just did a few off the top of my head, so there would be more characters that I just haven't thought about yet. Also, ideally there would be one monster/god from each pantheon but I've already got the tag-team Leviathan and Behemoth, and Satan, and I almost included Fenris in addition to Nidhogg. So who knows...

Somehow the words got all tiny. Anyone know what I did?
