UPDATE: Check out the new and improved version! operaghost21.deviantart.com/ar…

Alright, so I really like miniatures (as my girlfriend wittily put it, "you love giant monsters but your favorite toys are all so small"), and one of my favorite sets/games is Horroclix. I dunno how many of you know it, but it's a ton of really awesome monster movie type figures. I collected them more than I ever really played the game, but they're really cool.

Anyway, long story short, I want to start making some custom figures (who knows how that'll go), and besides the general monsters and movie/tv characters I wanted to make figures of, I decided that I wanted to base a whole set around cryptids. So these are just some sketches I did to get the ball rolling. I'm probably going to have to use pre-existing figures to make these, so most of them will probably look totally different when I'm done.

And, um, that's about all I have to say about it...

This is awesome! HCX was really underrated... one of the best "Beer & pretzels" miniatures games of all time.Β Β

Fond memories of the massive, late-night, six-player clusterf*** game where Jason Voorhees was defeated and came back to life EIGHT times, eventually winning just by being the last monster standing.Β

Poacher Rookie: "My daddy taught me how to shoot, but he never told me just how good the money you could make off hunting was." - Jason Ray Boggs, Kentucky poacher

Poacher Veteran: "This one fella from New York wanted something unique to give his woman for dinner. What's more unique than a piece of meat straight from the Mesozoic?" - Anonymous guest overheard at a vampire whorehouse.

Poacher Elite: "If God had wanted them to stay on this Earth, he wouldn't have created me." - Mick Dundee, Australian poacher

Cryptozoologist Rookie: As Jackson followed the professor through the undergrowth, he couldn't help but feel like something was still wrong. "Doctor, shouldn't it be right where we are?"

"That's what it wants us to believe," the doctor said, grabbing Jackson's field glasses. "When in reality it's back at the village." Taking the glasses, Jackson nearly lost his lunch seeing what was happening to the tribe.

Cryptozoologist Veteran: If you meet a guy in this line of work that calls himself "Bobo", steer clear of him, especially if he winds up on TV.

Cryptozoologist Elite: Most of us realize there's not a way in hell some of our discoveries could ever be revealed. Who would believe what we've seen? Or worse, believe us and go out looking for a proft? No, better these creatures stay away from mankind's prying eyes as long as possible. For all our sakes.

No Loch Ness Monster?

But seriously, these are awesome. I'm also a sucker for miniatures (dunno why) and these look great. You can't go wrong with a cryptid set, and the addition of the Poacher and Cryptozoologist figures was a nice touch. I can't wait to see how they look when they're done.
