I did not expect to ever see this again. Back when Project Cryptid was a one-time thing that I just wanted to do for a visual I didn't care at all about quality as is graphically illustrated above. Whenever I would edit the picture, I'd rename it and keep the previous example as a sort of archive. In the early days, updates were not even a gleam in my eye and for the first three years, only two or three cryptids were added*.

Two years ago I lost many of the old files when my flash drive was lost. Any record of the origins of Project Cryptid seemed to be lost.

Very recently, I went into an old folder I'd had little reason to use and, just like money in an old coat, there was a copy of the very first three incarnations of the Project, preserved in their poorly rendered glory! It may only have been three early versions but that was better than nothing to me.

What you are now seeing is the original, very first "Cryptids" as it looked on May 6th, 2005 when I first began to make images of the things I'd read about in the Cryptozoology glossary.

*The first additions to Project Cryptid after these originals were Megalania and Dover Demon.
