Monsters of myth and legend sometimes have a basis in fact. Such was the case with a beast called Kraken, a monster with multiple limbs and huge, horrible eyes that would attack boats and drag their crews into the dark, cold depths never to be seen again. A possible clue to the identity of this legendary creature may have been washing up on the beaches of the world for centuries- discoveries of enormous corpses washed up on the sands, bodies with many tentacles and large, dead eyes. The interesting thing was that these corpses did not bear the likeness of a monster, but rather that of a known, albiet smaller, sea animal: the squid.
The Kraken now had a face and a name, the "Giant Squid". It would be centuries before these discoveries went to the next level, that grand step from corpses to a living speciman. In 2005, the giant squid joined the world of the living with a series of history-making still images of a living giant squid in its natural habitat. In 2006, this was bolstered by the capture, on video, of a live giant squid.
From stories to corpses to living specimens, the Giant squid is without a doubt one of the greatest success stories for both Zoology and cryptozoology alike.
-Photoshop really saved my skin here, I was able to clean up the drawing and remove that terrible background "deep-ocean disaster" with wonderful precision

Or giant squid...did you know this creature doesn't belong in cryptozoology anymore cuz evidence of it's existence have been found. they are squids at least ten meters long living deep down the oceans. it is thought by the scientific that some are big enough to actually eat small whales.
Nice representation of the kraken, i love the colors!

Yes, I know that giant and colossal squids have been identified , the point of this entry was to show that some monster tales actually have a basis in fact. That and I just wanted to draw a squid
