Description
Besides from a visual appearance they are pretty different in other ways. For instance The game (War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron) version the Soundwave is identical to the usual one we all know aka Gen 1. In Prime Soundwave never talks and when he finally does it's only 4 words. Really with how the Cybertron games was just a love letter to Gen 1 fans with how it's written and everything else in the Aligned continuity despite some hiccups you could tell they were suppose to connect. It comes across as someone at Hasbro suddenly decided to add it to Prime's cannon.Related content

Think again the designs are shown to be different in flashbacks. Soundwave also had his vow of silence and yet in the game he talks a lot in addition.
Also, RiD as made years later the games ended. In addition both designs onto beat a resemblance because it’s based on G1 look.
There also the fact we had both the developers say their games are prequel to G1. Then Prime’s showrunner admitting they ignored the rules sent to them about the aligned continuity and rewrote establish lore.
Mainly dark energon the games it’s always existed, Prime it was mostly a legend and not on Cybertron

I like Prime, WFC, FOC and both versions of Soundwave but I have to agree. I always thought that the games and Prime being connected didn't make any sense either.

You can just tell it was just a last minute decision. Even the developer at a QnA were asked what version they based the games on, and they said Gen 1.
I liked both version Cybertron Soundwave because it’s classic Soundwave and you can’t hate that awesome character. Prime is a character that sound only 4 words and just stand in the background and try still made that threatening, really shows how great Prime was.
Even from a character perspective they don’t fit because Prime states Soundwave stopped talking before the War even happened.

Yeah, it clearly wasn't a good idea. For a start, the designs for Prime and the games couldn't be more different. Why do you think they decided to connect them together in the first place?
You make some very good points. Btw, I have moderated my rant on the Headmasters meme accordingly.

The purpose of Aligned continuity was to try create another massive universe for transformers like Gen 1 and the films have. As a way to compete with huge extended universe series like Star Wars and Star Trek.
I think Hasbro just wanted to rush the universe quickly they got Activision to make a game that explore the Civil War on Cybertron. With the only thing being that the planet was dying because of dark Energon.
But the book the Covenant Of Primus, Prime, and the games were in development at the same time with different writers. Plus 1 writer stated there was no really to check on all 3 to make sure they all fit.
Even the newer Robot in Disguise cartoon their version of Grimlock has been retcon as another Dinobot simply calling himself that, after the original. As the writers for that show he wasn’t even going to be a T-Rex at all but another dinosaur based bot but the Age of Extinction happened and Hasbro order them to make it Grimlock. Obviously to cash in on his recent popularity.

Ah, right. I see, that's interesting.
I have never seen the 2015 Robots in Disguise cartoon, so I have yet to form an opinion on it. I have heard some pretty negative things about the series, as people think that it is a bad sequel to Prime. Whatever the case maybe, I'm sure that it is not as nearly as good as Prime. What's your opinion on it?

It’s meh, it’s suffers from some bad modern cartoon style writing. The continuity problems like being Optimus back to life kind of ruins his sacrifices.
But the show has lot of cool concepts that weren’t use especially when you take continuity. It’s basically a small team of Autobots lead by Bumblebee who came to earth looking for rogue Decepticons. Which would be awesome as a story of handled maturely as the Aligned continuity uses the version where they were subjected and rebelled. In addition some Cybertronians were labeled as Decepticons because they might have been against the old government.
Thus as a sequel to Prime it be great to see both sides finally put their differences aside, after a lifetime of fighting each other.
Plus a huge problem I have is because the formula is mostly episodic so the big bass mostly feel they come out of nowhere. And each season the power scaling doesn’t really work the first season had The Fallen, second Starscream with the Star Saber, and Cyclonis who became a combiners.
It kind of seems backwards that way.

Soundwave's just part of the problem with media as a whole: trying to connect everything even when it makes little to no sense.

Then again Hasbro has a weird history with Transformers continuity.
Beast Wars was apparently not going to be a sequel to G1. But because of fan support they connected it.
Beast Machines the writers were told NOT to watch Beast Wars, despite being a direct sequel. Of course they didn't listen.
Then again with with the Unicron Trilogy the 3rd one Cybertron to us, in the original Japanese version it was an unrelated series. Despite Hasbro saying it was the conclusion, it was the dub that connected them it. Only with later stuff did the Japanese version did it join Aramanda and Energon.
