The plot for the classic and X series do have the same 1 or 2 plot, Wily/Sigma does something and Megaman puts a stop to it. The other a new villain comes along only for Sigma/Wily to come after the defeat of the new villain revealing they were the ones really in charge. At least the classic series were more comedic unlike the X series which too itself very seriously making everyone look stupid.Compared to the plots of Zeros, ZX, Legends, Battle Network, and Star Force. Which new entry does continues the plots in new direction. Most do have a main villain but they mainly exist as a presence to each series with their actions still fresh or caused the next chapter of the story.

Off topic, but...
I was still surprised that the Mavericks still exist, during Zero and ZX.
Even with Sigma gone, a lot them were still going for it.

Mavericks are just a generic term and they exist to describe Reploids that went rogue or became a criminal (often against human). The virus didn’t exist until Sigma found Zero and got infected. It was with later on did the Maverick Virus became the default origin for Mavericks, many of the only Maverick bosses joined Sigma willingly. Especially X1 since they were his former soldiers.
Zero series you aren’t fighting Mavericks at all in fact you and the resistance are the ones labeled as Mavericks for going against Nei Acardia. ZX mainly just criminals and reploids searching for Model Ws.

I wouldn't be surprised if that copy labeled a little girl as a Maverick for dressing up like a panda, then he aggressively beat her to a pulp.

In game they said Copy X started to randomly label reploids as Mavericks just to kill them to harvest energy to fix an ongoing energy crisis going on.
Which I have a headcanon were there’s a fake lottery going on at Neo Arcadia that Reploids take part of under the premise of winning a trip to the elite class to cover up them unethically retiring like the movie Parts: The Clonus Horror.

Me too and giving the fact Megaman 11 happened because the classic legacy collection sold so well, maybe we can see a ZX 3 and finally bridge the gap between the ZX series and Legends

We all do and odds are they can happening if the legacy collections of their respective series sell well. Legends Legacy Collection is likely being on hold for a later point. Given the launch of the PS5 coming soon they will put there
