Description Two emperors ruling over mankind collide. One from a galaxy far far away and the other from a dark and grim future where there is only war.

Emperor Palpatine of Star Wars vs. the Emperor of Mankind from Warhammer 40k. I personally would bet in the Emperor from W40k, but how much lightsaber and lightning can a power armor resist? Would the Emperor psionic powers be match for The Force? Can any Warhammer weapon or armor stop a lightsaber?

Its a bit of a joke saying the force is even in the same league as a psyker. And yes, as shown in the most recent SW movie, light sabres can be stopped by a petty shock baton.
Also, for force lightning, look up the Dawn of War 2 trailer and you will have your answer.

Seriously, Emps is SUPPOSED to be a CRAZY-GARYSTU-OP-PLZ-NERF powerhouse of a warrior. And that's even before he starts using his psychic might. Setting him up in any one-on-one fight is ridiculous.

And before you start talking about him losing to Horus, that was because he didn't want to fight his own son. He only got his shit together when Horus casually killed Olanius Pius.

As far as being galactic super powers, the Galactic Empire trumps the Imperium easy, seeing as the Empire actually has a firm grasp on its systems and isn't losing ground daily.

They are matched for naval strength and man power.

The only hiccup the G.Empire would stuggle against is the Space Marines. The Empire's superior tech would compensate for this. The Death Stars and Dark Troopers are an example of this.

The G.Empire also has safer FTL space travel, and better morale among soldiers.

Sorry. Nerd-adge finished.

dierdred In reply to USdreadnaught92 [2013-08-30 18:24:35 +0000 UTC]

hold on here, the empire has no where near superior tech to the space marines, first of all, the absolute WEAKEST of the imperium of man is the imperial guard, whos carapice armor can take several laser shots before melting, where as a clone troopers armor gets absolutely wrecked from one shot, and 2 a lightsaber is basically an ever present laser from a clone troopers gun, 3 a space marine has armor so advanced that an imperial guard cant even scratch them, also it takes plasma to melt through space marine armor, which the emperium of man hasnt even made, there is insulation built into the armor, lightning wouldnt even effect a space marine. a space marines bolter fires a .70 cal self propelled high explosive bolt, a normal space marine would destroy palpatine because of his gun, all it would take is one shot and boom, goes palpatines upper torso, 4 the god emperor of man kind has terminator armor which a space marines bolter can barely dent, so palpatine is at a major loss, plus a psycher is the same thing as a jedi. the empire has millions of troops, while the imperium of man has trillions times trillions of troops. and the death star wouldnt do anything to a space marine flag ship, which is 800+miles long while the death star is only maybe 2 to 3 miles wide. the reason the empire of man looses ground (and retakes, and isnt constantly loosing ground, it takes several years for them to lose one planet, that only has a planetary defence force, which is Β the imperial guard rejects basically) is because of the chaos and the tyranid, tyranids would absolutly destroy the empire if they battled, so would the eldar, the tau, the necrons. you need to know both sides before you say which side will win. so far, the imperium of man would just WRECK the empire, thats just with imperial guards, then you have space marines, who DONT stand there like bricks, they actually are smart, they have to be scouts before they earn their adeptus astartes armor, so space marines are basically the best of the best even without the extra organs, an extra heart another lung a solid bullet proof ribcage, etc etc and then you have the space marine titans, the adeptus mechanicus titans are walking giants, the smallest titan is the same size as the largest empire walker, but with weapons so much more powerfull (wolfhound titan) then you have the reaver titan, twice as big as that, then the third (cant rememer the name) than the imperator titan, which is literally a mile and a half tall, with weapons that can decimate legions of troops with a single shot. and in all honesty, the imperial guard moral is equal to a standard human, if you had a 20 ft tall fucking alien with claws that could slice m1a1 abrahm tanks in half with a single slice, wouldnt you shit your pants and run? youd think youd have respect for the imperium of man mr dreadnaught, if you even knew half a shit about what your profile is on, you would know the wh40k imperium would destroy the starwars empire.

Hahahahahahahah

Yes, also there are the red and dark stormtroopers that could match the Space Marines, maybe not in one-by-one, but 5 or 7 of them could defeat an Adeptus Astartes in combat.

Imperium ships are freaking huge, but I think the Galactic Empire have more advanced technology and guns. Also the Imperium rule more worlds and have far more manpower than the Galactic Empire.

All Palpatine need was to throw away (again) the "only two" rule of the Sith and train a lot of soldiers to use the Dark Side of the Force. Seeing how Starkiller (Vader apprentice) crushes walkers and robots with the Force, a troop of sith clones of him or Vader would smash most of the Imperium psikers and librarians...

Dark-Sinjid4 In reply to orcbruto [2013-04-13 04:57:04 +0000 UTC]

Yes because the special troops of the Empire can take 30 caliber explosive rounds to the head and live, while their lasers bounce of the power armor of the Space Marine.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

USdreadnaught92 In reply to orcbruto [2013-01-17 05:17:48 +0000 UTC]

Actually, Palpatine used the Rule of Two rather loosely. Vader and himself (and Starkiller) were the only full "Sith", but there were actually plenty of Imperial Force-adepts, including the red-robed Royal Guards and their higher-ups the Dark Guards, the latter being essentially lesser Sith.

The Empire is efficient, not being blinded by their fear and ignorance of machinery (Not even Tech Priests know how all their stuff works). The Empire augments its forces with advanced war droids and cloned soldiers, vast swarms of one-man fighters and bombers, combat walkers that can resist laser blasts (lasconnons), and planetoid-sized battle stations.
Exterminatus would be ineffective on the Deathstars because of their deflector shields, which would turn the Exterminatus bomb. The Deathstars trump Exterminatus by performing the exact same function more effectively and from range.
Imperial battlefleets dwarf the Imperium by sheer numbers in addition to massive juggernauts like Super Star Destroyers.

Granted, the Imperium would overwhelm Stormtrooper ground formations, but not with a serious fight.

This is fun! I like this back-and-forth fan-backing. Neither of us are ever going to yield! Counter me: how does the Imperium deal with a Super Star Destroyer?

lol, I wonder what the Iron Hands would think of Vader, who is more machine than man?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

orcbruto In reply to USdreadnaught92 [2013-01-17 19:02:38 +0000 UTC]

Hahahahahaha

Oh yes, I think the Empire would put up quite a fight, and if they had time to prepare themselves, maybe even survive a fight with the Imperium (if they meet some Space Marine or Imperium ship before the war starts...).

The Empire is efficient, but they never meet the horrors the Imperium face everyday. Tyranids, orks, Eldars, Chaos, all of them would smash the Rebellion or any Hutt empire in a blink of an eye, so most of the Empire war machines are rather weak compared to Imperium ones, that had thousands of year of trial and error to withstand the nightmare that is the 40k galaxy.

The question about Death Stars is that if their deflector shields can deflect solid projectiles. Star Wars universe uses mostly energy projectiles, and in the movies it never show if a actual bullet, bomb or missile could cross the shield.

Also if the shield generator is in a planet or moon like in Return of the Jedi, the Imperium would have no problems scanning it and breaking the planet open, not only destroying the generator but also bombarding the Death Star with planet-size shrapnel!

I don't know much about the Imperium Navy, but I think a battle between an Imperium ship and a Super Star Destroyer would be epic, mostly because they are focused in very different styles of warfare. I guess the Empire would try to swarm the Imperium with TIE Fighters and TIE Bombers, while the Imperium Navy would throw some huge ass missiles and lasers in the destroyer hull and try to board it. It would surely be over-epic!

Also Stortroopers agains Imperial Guard would be a good battle, and Red Troopers/Royal Guard against Space Marines would be great, but the Imperium rule over a much wider space and can just swarm the poor Imperial conscripts quite fast.

I wonder the Techpriests would be quite interested in Vader too!

USdreadnaught92 In reply to orcbruto [2013-01-18 02:28:20 +0000 UTC]

This is all assuming of course that the two sides enter a conflict in the first place. Palpatine's army was great, but didn't even come into its full strength until after the birth of the Empire. For centuries the Sith pounded at the Old Republic from the outside, never quite destroying it, and never for very long. Palpatine used a different weapon: politics, corruption from within. Upon meeting such a vastly superior force like the Imperium, the Emperor would probably use false fealty, shadowy deals, and other unsavory, non-militant techniques. And he used them so well that not even the best of the Jedi could detect him.

Palpatine also has access to safe FTL travel, which would shift economic and military power from the Navigator Houses to him if he allied himself with the Imperium. The Stormtroopers would be invaluable to the Imperium: Pre-Heresy Word Bearer-level zeal combined with Cadian-level numbers and discipline. All Palpatine has to do is get a large number of them mixed into every armada and he'll have a hidden knife to everyone's back.

Personally I don't think the Empire would have too much difficulty handling Xenos. Since they don't even pretend to care about the lives or rights of citizens, all they have to do if they face an overwhelming planetary invasion it fall back, let the aliens dig in, then blow it up with the Death Star. Heretic uprising? Death Star. Eldar Craftworld? Death Star. Tau? Vader.

So really, the Galactic Empire is more dangerous to the Imperium as an "ally" than an enemy.

Hahahahahahahahahhahaha

"Heretic uprising? Death Star. Eldar Craftworld? Death Star. Tau? Vader." I laughed my ass out with this one!

In fact, I think that if even the two "empires" meet, Palpatine would have a good time before the main Imperium force invades, mostly because of his FTL ships. Imperium vessels have to navigate the Warp, and the Emperor's light doesn't even shine in all the Milky Way, much less in a galaxy "far far away".

Mostly Palpatine would try to unite the "far far away" galaxy with his dirty politics, grab all xenos he can (to use as vanguard), develop trillions of robots, droids and drones, all made exclusively to combat the Imperium forces (anti-Titan droids, anti-Astartes droids, anti-Sororitas droids...) and train a horde of dark side force users to fight by his side. When the Imperium finally arrives, they would have a very dangerous enemy waiting for them.

And when Palpatine discovers the Chaos Space Marines, Tau, Eldar and Orks, he would surely manipulate them into coordinated attacks against the Imperium, as the Galactic Empire have no problem with employing and exploring xenos

But if the Imperium arrive by surprise and take the Empire unprepared, a few battleships would surely turn any Death Star into space dust and seize the throne for "The Emperor!"... They would probably be stranded in the "far far away galaxy", but I don't think the Empire, with the power they had in Return of Jedi or A New Hope could fight the Imperium...

everything in warhammer 40k is overpowered as fuck, the empire would not stand a chance, in 40k, they are semi-balanced, in anything else they are god-tier, just the imperial guard would ass rape the empire because they have trillions more ships, way more production capabilities, and soldier for soldier the imperial guard are equal to the stormtroopers, maybe worse but it doesn't matter, they have trillions of planets worth of soldiers to throw at them, the imperium is basically the end all in other universes, war is on a different scale in 40k, even if the force could somehow beat psykers, they have guns, and as soon as space marines get involved it's basically overΒ

a few? my man a single ship would anniahlate the darkstar, and also, you can not unite those forces, the eldar only want whats best for their homeworld, so if joining their entire force with palpatine put them in danger of facing the imperium (which it would) they would decline and probably kill palpatine, the chaos marines would only aid them untill the imperium withdrew for a bit to regroup, then anniahlate the empire, the tau believe in the greater good, they wouldnt assosciate with palpatine, if anything they would work with the space marines, as they are known to do so, so are the eldar, da orcz would crush dem silly humiez wit derr smashy bits and shoot them with their dakka, they would just kill palpatine and his entire force for the fight, Β im sorry my friend, but the size of the imperium and the mindset of the aliens and xenos, palpatine would be on his own save for maybe the space marines, and knowing how the orcs would be an unknown race to him, hed try dirty diplomacy which would get him no where.

The shown Imperial forces from the movies are only a tiny fraction of the whole overwhelming mass of bone-grinding might that is the Glorious Army of the New Order. The Death Star attacked the Rebel base with no back up, and the fleet used in Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi was only Vader's task fleet to hunt down the Rebels. The vast majority of Imperial forces were mostly committed to the lawless and untamed Outer Rim, where Thrawn, the Empire's most brilliant tactical mind was unfortunately exiled. Had Thrawn been present at the Battle of Endor, the Rebels would have crumbled easily.

I'm not sure how easily Palpatine could manipulate the Eldar, but the other alien races for sure. Chaos I think would either largely ignore him, seeing him as a Sorcerer, one of their own, or devote themselves to him as a prophet of Darkness. Alpha Legion would probably love him. The Emperor uses the Chaos Legions to stage a crisis and then flies in heroically to the Imperium's rescue, establishing himself as a perceived ally. The Emperor's hatred of all non-humans also plays right into the Imperium's dogma.

2. He wouldn't be the prophet of darkness. His dark deeds are just boring for chaos gods. He would be at the most a cult leader. And chaos have the chosen, Failbaddon the Harmless as 40k community calls him.
3. Alpha are sticky topic. Noone knows if they are loyal or traitor as a legion. And i dont think they would like him after probing his mind.
4. During 13 Black crusades, the apocaliptic events of chaos marching as one, their leader, Failbaddon the Armless bashed his head and bled his troops out at the walls of Cadia. I dont think the Palpi could muster all those fuckers or even convince them to stop shooting each other long enough to make them attack. Search for archwarhammer on youtube. Oh yes, the Emperor would surely use everyone around to his goals, as long as he have time to manipulate them... when confronted with sudden action like in the Episode III and Return of the Jedi, Palpatine easily get's lost and do stupid things. The II Death Star was hilarious bad protected, and it was quite foolish to use a construction yard protected only by an unshielded shield generator and some troops that could be easily defeated by stone age carebears to defend the Emperor from the rebels most powerful fleet... It was like taking George Bush to a tent camp with only a bunch of Navy Seals in the most violent part of Iraq's war, in a place were rebels were coming with everything they got...

that's not fair to the Navy SEALs lol.

yeah...we in the Empire don't like to talk about Ewoks. Unless we're talking about killing them.

The Death Stars were not intended to be used against the Rebellion, not initially. The Emperor had foreseen the invasion of a much deadlier enemy, against which a fully operational Death Star gave the Empire a chance at victory. This enemy was the Yuuzhan Vong, an extra-galactic race of genocidal aliens that worship pain and have no presence in the Force, making Force users blind to them.

That's why the Emperor was so obsessed with lack-Force "toys" like the AT-ATs and the Death Star.

So in a way, the Emperor was actually protecting the galaxy.

One could argue a bit differently here : Could SW Empy do what 40 k Empy does and the other way around ? I do not think SW empy could stand against Chaos while 40 k empy could easily face anything in SW universe .

The " good " guys in 40 k do stuff that would make a Sith Lord pale . The Dark Side of the Force is a joke compared to the warp . But then again 40 k is designed for maximum absurdity : ))
