Scarlet turned to James.

"You go on in," Scarlet said. "I won't be long." James nodded and entered the building. She sighed as she carried the bottles over to a trashcan. As she tossed the bottles into the Dumpster, a shadow suddenly raced across behind her causing her to turn around.

"Pretty girls shouldn't be out so late," rasped a wiry voice. Scarlet watched as the shadow leaped up onto the wall and stared down at her with glowing red eyes. Scarlet wrinkled her nose in disgust as she reconized the stench of a rat-man.

A gunshot suddenly went off, and a bullet bounced off where the rat-man had been.
