Way too complex to try to teach with words.
It requires hands on instruction.
I suggest you find a course at a local community college or technical school.

Amazing! I've been seeing the octahedron in my visions consistently and I've build dozens of them from various media. I wish I knew how to weld so I could build one like this!
I've also found two readily available crystals that form natural octahedron shapes, fluorite and magnetite.
In fact my DevianID was inspired by the octahedron, if you're standing in the center of one, there are six directions towards each vertex.
