Indeed it is tactile. The shot was taken with ILFORD B&W film but printed on COLOR PAPER giving those subtle nuances of tone.Like the first Calvin Klein ads in the nineties...

That's an interesting process using Ilford B&W, but printing on colour paper. Works wonderfully well! I'll check your gallery, your art is very cool!

Not only is the sculpture really cool, the photo has good composition and brings out the human drama of the sculpture.

Hopefully you'll find some art you like and others will discover your work. I don't see much sculpture at all on DA. I keep forgetting to submit my own sculpture, mostly 'cause it's from like 20 years ago.

this is a helluva shot.

very surrealistic. the photo compliments the style of the work.

I'd do several shots of this in a variety of surrealistic sky shots, just to check out different sky and cloud patters on the piece.

but then, I'm into photography, not metal sculpting. Your time would be better spent sculpting. Your work is amazing.

Thank you friend,
I HAVE actually done as you say.
I have many shots of this piece as it was a seminal event in my career.
Self portraits often provide a metaphysical doorway of sorts for an artist.
Those pieces (especially 3 dimensional sculptures) provide an alternate view at our own selves and externalizes aspects that are often hidden.
As artists we have "trained"eyes and it can often be revelatory to train those eyes on our own corporeal structure.
The sculpture is a SYMBOLIC representation but the artist sees within it other cues and indications which transcend the material and hint at more sublime aspects,i.e. life force, ancient history, inner temperament etc.

Aw, why? It doesn't hurt to have more than one angle on the same piece.

ou8nrtist2 In reply to LilleKraakeLunde [2008-02-29 09:07:47 +0000 UTC]

It was not a different angle.
It was the exact same shot.
