Description
Another ballpoint doodle at my daughter's flute lesson. I tinted the background on this and added a couple of highlights, but other than that it's just pen on paper. I started with the telescope thing and it just kind of grew from there.I thought he looked like sort of a DIY cyborg who was down on his luck.
Edit: Wow I didn't realize until just now how similar this is to my Machine Head doodle from a while back. I need to branch out I guess...I must have some psychological need to merge mechanical parts with human heads.

Note: This is a comment from , which she posted on a thumbshare forum, but I liked it so much that I decided to re-post it here, so it stays linked with this picture:
I really like this idea. When people think of half-robot half-human...I feel like the first image that comes to their head would be a a strong super hero or something. You fast forwarded time and made it seem like everyone ages and no one is immortal. So leaving his body unfinished leaves imagination for the eye. This is similar to what many of the major renaissance artists did and it has a great effect.
Also I notice how the yellowish background color fits this "old" and "withered" look well. Not only that however, it gives you the ability to put highlight onto his face and make him stand out from the paper. Well done ^_^

Very nice for a pen sketch! I like the added background of grid lines and the complexity in such a short amount of time perspective is perfect

Cyborgitry probably puts him at a distinct disadvantage if he needs to do any panhandling.
Grateful for your daughters flute lessons.

I tell you what...it's 45 minutes where I just sit in a studio (with a couch and a fireplace), listen to beautiful music, and doodle. I look forward to it every week.
