Since you don't like to talk about religion, I will refrain from bringing it up, but simply say you did an AMAZING job. I love the content, but stylistically, you really rocked this. I'm sure your grandfather was very happy to receive this. I know I would have been!
Much love,
Mandi

Thank you very much! Yes, he liked a lot, and kept with him until he passed away an year ago. I was very proud to give him the painting in time.
Don't worry too much. Its not that I don't like to talk about religion. It is just that I am a little tired to see people thrashing religion so easily, so harshly and so much.
When this subject is important to you, and since it is so difficult to change how people think, it's just easier to just let people go with their own values.

I'm certain he loved it, and I'm certain he still loves you and is insanely proud of you. He just loves you and is proud of you on a different plane of existence!
I try to refrain from talking of my spirituality until I am requestd to do so; I think forcing religion on others is just plain rude! I'm not looking to tell others their way of thinking is wrong, (ugh! Talk about even MORE rude! What's ruder than telling someone their sacred spiritual beliefs, or lack thereof, are wrong? That's the eptiome of rudeness!), but I really am excited to share my faith with others because it's given me amazing peace, happiness and clarity and I just want to share that with others. I kicked a drug addiction on account of Jesus, I'm chomping at the bit to share that with others so that they can have the peace and happiness I have. Really, that's all I want; I just want others happy, no matter HOW that happens, whether that's having faith or not. I just hope it IS having faith, as I so passionately believe in the things I do.
Sorry for hijacking your dA page as my personal little rant playground. All I meant to say was I think your art is, no pun intended here, divine, and I think you are extremely wise and peaceable for your thoughts on not discussing religion... I deeply respect that about you as a person and respect you hugely as an artist. You are an inspiration!
God bless you!

Beautiful reply! I thank you very much for your kind words. They truly means a lot to me.
Aye! I hope you are right. My grandfather was a very shy and serious men, but as an Portuguese immigrant from humble origins, he struggled to achieve the basics with very little education and sophistication. Despite all those adversities, he managed to build a great life, for him, his wife, and his sons. He was also a men of enormous faith and love for God. I am sure he is ok now. Being so generous and so honest, that man has to be in a good place now. He was that kind of guy that would be much happier to help you buy a car rather than to change his own, which he kept for several years with no vanity.
I understand your point. People shouldn't be to afraid to show their faith, but the nowadays zeitgeist hates religion, faith and God. I do understand why, but that explanation would lead to a political discussion, which would make this little chat even more dangerous these days. These topics do often kill good friendships. More than they should, in my humble opinion. Specially on the political side. People usually much more devoted to their political views rather than to their religion.
Don't worry talking about yourself. I do like to see people changing for the better. It gives me hope to overcome my own problems.
But my problems are not that serious. My conversion came more from intellectual pursuit rather than from spiritual experience. After reading about the history of the church I realized that the course of things had to be guided by a superior force, in order to let Christianity overcome the enormous obstacles they had in 2000 years of struggle. I wish people could have the same joy I had while I was studying it, but that is a very subjective experience, and one must be in the right moment in his life in order to understand both intellectually and spiritually the information. Now is my turn. It is just sad that I have wasted so much time being blind, thinking that I was seeing everything. Crazy misconception of life, isn't it?
Thank you again for you kind words. May God bless you.

Yes I am. Staunch Roman Catholic. I just don't want to shift the focus of the gallery, which is art appreciation.
Conversations about religion sometimes stir people's feelings, which often leads to fights of some sort. Which frequently also leads to the end of good and friendly relationships.
Even among Catholics and Protestants, that in my point of view are pretty much the same, things can get nasty sometimes. You know what happens with politically motivated people or Atheists.
See my point?

If you have to get technical...he was probably brown since he was jewish.. ^^ lol
But I don't really think it matters what he looked like. To me, his existence is enough.
