Superb, i can almost hear the growl of their engines! and smell the dark belching smoke, and feel the heat from the flames. You've captured it perfectly, a ww2 dog fight.

Lovely detail on the planes, and the sky looks very striking. Is 'brake' spelt that way (as in a car brake) deliberately, or should it read 'break'?

Very nice drawing man but i see a huge flaw in your artwork. The Bf-109 in the center of the picture is totaly screwed The canopy and the fuselage do look like the ones from a bf-109 but the motor part, air intake and the nose cap look more like a spitfire to me. It gets over like a bf-109 and a spitfire hybrid. Apart from that i think its perfect, very nice lightning and clouds. Good work but mind the falws

I know it seems odd but I first gotten the idea to pant this particular odd plane after watching the 1960's movie "the Battle of Britten" [link] its the only time I've seen a 4 bladed prop on one I thougth to try and paint this thing thanks

The composition is amazing keeps my eye busy for a long time, the lighting and the clours are awesome,
it has a hot day feel to it with a big storm approaching.
your colour theory is great and I like the metalic brushing on the closest planes, so much detail on it.
great work

Rugged brush strokes used for the clouds create the idea of a furious storm that is dissipating. The soft blending of colors and brush strokes establishes a mood of action and excitement that airplanes bring as well as a storm. Dark to light sky gives good contrast in the image as well as creating a balance of values. The complementary colors used in the sky also add more vibrancy to the piece. Having a low level of detail gives the viewer a better look at the artistic elements used in this piece. Concentrating more on the elements of art rather than fancy details always creates a nicer and sometimes more successful piece of artwork.
The tree line in this is a good way to have the viewers eye travel into the piece, but it is not that strong. It does not really draw one into the piece. A suggestion to maybe give this affect is to have more tress follow that vanishing line closer to the viewer. Since the plain is above the horizon, tilting it counter clockwise so its nose is pointing upwards and itβs tail going to the vanishing point will set that βdraw inβ perspective. I can go on explaining how to fix it, but an easier and more effective way to see what Iβm talking about is to make a vanishing point (which is the end of the tree line) and draw the lines from it. Youβll see how everything should fall into place.
Keep up the great work.

Gorgeous work on this. It turned out so well. The details are amazing. Such a lovely painting. It reminds me of an oil painting hanging in my grandpa's living room. Each brush stroke is full of color and texture. You never cease to amaze me with your work. I love the wisps of grass growing up around the water, they add a very realistc feel to this setting. The building in the back also help to draw the eye in for a closer look. The planes, well as always they are perfection in my eyes.
I read in the other comments that the jeep was ditched from this particular piece and will be brought back in another. I think it was a good call. If there was too much ground action it would take away from the planes and sky.
Simply terrific stuff here Paul.

O..o you great.
the sky.. so dramatic. the soldiers, layed out in such a wonderful way. the one coming left vs the ones going right (switch left and right words around..) . and the little buildings to the left part. great touch

You are the zen master of Painter 8. All of your work is extremely high quality and you can tell that alot of effort is put into each and every picture.
I dont know if you were trying for a more rough and genuine oil painting feel on this one or not, but the clouds seem a bit more unpolished as they have in some of your previous works. The left side of the picture looks entirely too dark, even when taken into consideration that there is supposed to be a storm rolling in. Everything is darkened out, and then BAM, you have a town illuminating out of the middle of the shadows. It just doesnt seem to fit in.
The field in the middle seems dull. There is really nothing of interest there except for some contour highlights that should also be spriced up a bit. You really dont get a good sense of the rolling hills that I think you were trying to convey.
The one thing that I can really compliment you on is the way that the metal on the main plane looks beaten worn and dirty. You wouldnt expect these planes to be in shining tip top shape after countless hours of dogfighting, and you conveyed that extremely well in this piece.
Overall, it is a great painting. Roughness aside (because I dont know if you were going for a more gritty oil painting look) I would have to say that this isnt one of your best works. There are areas that should have more detail and attention.
