Well I finished this, after all that has been happening. As *adonihs requested, a Junkers Stuka vs P-51's painting.Painter 8 and Photoshop CS, wacom 8x6 plenty of study photos for historical accuracy and realism. Maybe 3 days or so of actually sitting down and working on this. There is a lot of detail thats being hindered by the showable size but what can one do?

I've been strumming through your gallery for a few minutes now, this is amazing work. And you are a great contributor to the site, the numbers don't lie.
I was hoping you could give some insight into your technique, ie:
- how you get started with a piece;
- programs you typcially use;
- brushes/ presets/ filters you use;
- ANYTHING!
I'm always trying to learn, and you seem to be someone who could teach us all a thing or two. Thanks again for everything you do here, and keep painting these phenominal works!

- how you get started with a piece;
Just starts from an idea "how about a stuka and p-51" followed by some sketches in photoshop, usually it gets reworked as time goes on in progress.
- programs you typcially use;
Photoshop CS, and when I want a more natural effect, I import it over to corel painter
- brushes/ presets/ filters you use;
Well mostly I use the already given brushes, I don't see a need to really get more, my settings can be hinted on if you see my cloud tutorial

I just wrote a nice long reply, and it didn't go through, so I'll just say thanks for answering my questions, I'd love to see one of your works in a start-to-finish slideshow. And thanks for linking me to the tutorial, it's a great one at that, I've done a few myself.

Good painting. But Stuka's camouflage colours are wrong. Stuka with yellow nose was used until ยด42 or ยด43. P-51 look be D version from Pacific Fighters game.

That Stuka doesn't look 100% right but my knowledge of them is limited to PC games so I bet you're the one thats correct and not them

anyway, the two mustangs look out of place, I *think* the aluminum skins would reflect the red and orange of the sky more, they just seem to white to me

well this was a real experiment for me, I never have done "rich" skies before at least not this saturated. I've taken what you said in account, I'll avoid the same mistake in future pieces.

Great outcome, I liked watching this progress, and the result was well worth the effot you put into it. The colors really put a lot into it, with the Stuka shrouded in darkness and the P-51 flying in from the light.. quite dramatic. This could probably be posted without the planes and still be gorgeous, or without the cloude, but the combination makes it quite amazing. Thank you for posting it.

I'm really going to have to resee this on my LCD, this monitor way too dark for it.. but from what i do see.. incrediable. the sunset, with the planes, excellent choices. you deserve much gruvling(sp)
And no responding with a confusion emotiocon. Much easier to just blink, nod your head, and act like you understand, most people find it so.

Its good...very good indeed.....if I may give some constructive criticism though.....I'd say the P51s look kind of like they're stuck on...particularly the one on the right.....maybe it's the lighting?!....you could even get away with not having them there at all.....just my 2 pence worth!.....other than that good job again!!

if you look at photos you'll see that they are unpainted aluminum, that changes the lighting effect as apposed to the dark paint from the stuka.

Another brilliant job! I love these pieces and I'm happy to see some Mustangs get in. Now all ya have to do is a P-38J! There's only a few issues that I have with this... One of them is the Mustang to the left has it's far wing blurred, but the other's clear.... The next thing is the size, it would be better big. Another one is it's a bit dark, you can't see many details of the Stuka. But good! Kepp up the work!
