I admire your perseverance, trying for the third time to get the color you like That shade of purple looks nice indeed. I just ordered the phthalo purple, I shall see if I still think it is nice. It was in my first art class that I bought it...some ten years ago.

Yes, well, I just KNEW I could mix a better purple!
So you went ahead and ordered the phthalo purple - still squirreling stuff away, I see!
I hope you'll paint something with it ASAP, so I can see what that purple looks like.
On the whole, I try to avoid "ready-mixed" colours. The greens are all ghastly and need toning down, tube-orange is opaque, which is why I don't even have one, and the purples I've tried so far turn dull and lifeless when dry.
So I'm really looking forward to seeing what your phthalo purple can do!

did not realize I've shown my "hoarding" side to you.
I also usually do not like colors off the tubes I searched and only Grumbacher brand has that shade
I suddenly remember that the teacher had recommended that student grade brand for...starving and poor students. Since I'm curious to see how I like it, I went ahead and ordered that color. Will find something purple to try out that color next time then, in order to "report" back to you

The wait could be long with upcoming trips, but could be soon if Inspiration comes knocking

foxglove! i love these flowers but they don't do very well in dry, dry idaho. they just never get as lush as they do in northern california and germany

Well, these ones seem to feel right at home in my garden in L. - even a bit too much at home, I'd say! Last year, I planted 2 of them. This year, they were about 6 feet high and small ones (from sprouted seeds, I suppose) had spread over the entire flower bed! I had to thin them out quite radically!
Well, that made up a bit for the non-blooming 4 o'clocks, I guess
