Since the weather refuses to lighten up, I am forced to produce a sombre-toned photograph. I hate the winter, just look at that dark veil of cloud...
I know I recently did an umbrella piece, and I know umbrellas are ridiculously over-used in conceptual photography. There is a reason for that though; umbrellas are awesome. There should be a stamp in support of umbrellas... (someone make one!)
Anyway, this is my brother modeling for me once again, as I apparently have no friends.
Photoshop for levels, channel mixing, dodging/burning, noise reduction and cropping.

I've always loved umbrellas. When people are falling with them are my favorite pictures because even though we know the umbrella can't help soften our landings (I tried when I was six) There's always that hope. (That's how I feel about it anyways.) To the point, I love your pic, mostly the pose though since when your falling through air you don't always fall straight down.

It's a somber picture indeed, but not entirely.

I agree with you on the knees bit. I think the height of them does add to surrealism, but it also gives a more of the sense that he could fall and tumble over and over in the air. Because when you're falling in nothing but air, you dont fall straight down in a perfect pose. I love the tension in this.

i think if the umbrella was tipped back just a little bit it would have a better feeling of falling.

This photo is absolutely wonderful. I love the pose, the crop, the colors - and I think the clouds add an exceptional texture that would've been missing on a clear day. Great job on this capture, I'm enjoying it very much.
