She asked me to draw her amazing mare Mai who is so very pretty!

If you mean the yellowish shine by the outlines, I duplicated the whole character and gave it an inner glow effect. For my usual shading highlights I use the dodge tool

Wow I love this character. She has a pleasant expression on her face and the highlights on the body look lovely. Also I like how the green shrubbery frames this piece. Lovely work here Paardjee.
