To say Kairi had found himself in an impossible situation would be an understatement. The colt from the family he had murdered before his eyes followed him and refused to leave his side. The only explanation Kairi could conjure was that this colt was seriously messed up in the head. Or that he was still in shock and he’d run away screaming when he finally realized just what Kairi had done. That hadn’t happened yet though. He looked over his shoulder to see the colt walking behind him swaying ever so slightly. It was late at night and Kairi had been walking at a brisk pace in an attempt to shake the colt off. He didn’t outright gallop away from him since the idea of running away from a foal didn’t sit quite well with him. However the colt never stopped following him and had tried to keep up his cheery charade. His talking died down a while ago though, he was probably getting too tired to spend energy on anything except for trying to keep up. It was really unsettling to see the colt struggle so much and even Kairi couldn’t stand looking at him anymore. As much as it annoyed him he decided to give the colt a break before he’d exhaust himself to death. He didn’t spare the colt just so it could die a few hours later. He could hardly believe he allowed himself to care even this much and heaved an annoyed sigh before coming to a halt. Half asleep the colt bumped into his hind legs and Kairi pushed him back with a low growl. That was a little too close for him. The colt looked up at him with big hazy eyes, a streak of fear in them unknowing what the stallion was up to. Not wanting to start up a conversation or explain himself Kairi simply laid down and closed his eyes. He hadn’t bothered trying to find a shelter. Everyone knew better than to mess with a Lynawa, especially a sleeping one. And if they didn’t they’d soon find out. He could hear the colt move around a little, his breathing still hard. Just sleep, he thought at him. Finally the colt made an attempt to lie down but much too close to Kairi. His eyes shot open and he quickly got back on his feet. “No”, he said as if schooling a dog and walked a few paces away. The colt stayed where he had lain, a surprised expression on his face. When Kairi settled again and made another attempt to sleep the colt asked: “What’s your name?” He’d been asking Kairi’s name relentlessly before he’d grown too tired. Kairi rolled his eyes at his insistence and suddenly couldn’t be bothered anymore. “Kairi. Now sleep”, he grumbled and turned his head away from the colt. Judging from the lack of a response Kairi assumed the colt was satisfied and would finally sleep. How wrong he was. Neither of them got a good night’s rest that evening. Just when Kairi was about to drift off he was pulled back to consciousness by the colt’s soft sobbing. His heart lurched with guilt which in turn made him angry. Why in the name of hell would the colt follow him all this way just to be reminded of his parent’s deaths by every glance he gave him. Reality was finally sinking in for the colt and for the first time in a long time it also did for Kairi. He’d been getting away with his murders all this time without being reminded just how horrifying his acts were. He was always able to justify his actions and suppress the feelings of guilt and disgust he had for himself. But he could not ignore the colt’s whimpers nor was he able to suppress his feelings when he was faced with reality so closely. He didn’t want to feel like this. He snapped his head around and glared at the crying colt’s back. He could end this blubbering right now and end these feelings. He’d feel better if he did it. He knew that. He knew that from all the other times he gave in to the easy way out. But all it ever did was make things worse. He also knew that. Unable to come to a decision he battled his feeling of guilt and regret as the colt grieved his family and worried for his future. The night indeed, was a long one.

Well this took me another 2 years Can you imagine that I actually have this story pretty much finished in my head? Cause it sure doesn't look like it judging by how often I update it xD But yes this story is acually one of my favourites I have going on with my characters c: And look who got himself a redesign? Kairi! You have no idea how much more I like this design in comparison to his old one! You can't really see it properly here but I'll draw him a new reference sheet soon to show him off

Oh the feels in this one huh? Of course little Manchado (the colt) wasn't actually happy in the last part. He's just going for survival at this point and sticking around a strong stallion that won't kill him beats trying to survive on his own as a little colt. That doesn't mean he doesn't understand what he has done, he simply doesn't have a better option right now. He tried to keep strong but he broke down and Kairi is not happy with his crying and being confronted with his actions.

Also I don't know if you can see it but I used SAI for the line art in this one. I wanted to give the stabilizer another chance. I'm still not sure how to feel about it though xD The lagging is just not growing on me at all but the lines are so smooth D:

Well let's try and get the next part out in less than 2 years this time xD
