Description
This is just a shot to show how big Krimpet, a Chaco Horned frog, is. He is full grown and of a good weight. A lot of the times I have seen these frogs grossly obese b/c their owners either give them too much food and/or too much fatty foods. He mostly eats insects (crickets and wax worms) and fish but also the occasional lean meat like boiled chicken pieces. Very rarely, maybe on a holiday, if even that, do I give him an F/T pinkie mouse or small fuzzy. Mice are way too high in fat and if that is a main diet of these guys it will shorten their lives. It would kind of be like a person eating Mc Donalds Big Macs everyday, three times a day, all of the time. Not good!Related content

Thank you. They are a cool species and one of the things I love about them is their size and chubbiness!

They are big in their own right but this is the max for a male. Females do get slightly bigger. About the size my tortoise is now...around 5 inches. They also look a lot bigger, then what they are, from the front at least, b/c of their huge mouths.

That answers my size question! He looks wonderful.
My american toad is about the same size. I call him "my little sumo-toad" when he puffs up and stomps his little toad feet.

Oh I love American Toads! Yeah he is about the size of a large fm...but a little larger. Funny thing is that he really could do some damage if he wants but he is afraid of his own shadow. I got this shot right before he peed all over my hand!

Yeah it seems like it's never ending and you do have to wonder where the heck it is all coming from.
Even Daytona...she absolutely HATES going to the vet. I have only taken her twice (once when I first got her and recently for her yearly exam). She is normally very easy going and likes to come out and be handled. But there...she must have peed on all of the techs and she even hissed and tried to bite the vet!
The amount of pee tho was unreal! When I thought she couldn't possibly have anymore left the one tech went to pick her up and a big steam sprayed all over the place!

Oh yeah they aren't stupid. I can take her outside for shots and she is fine. I have even taken her on other car rides, to my mom's house, a few times and she was fine. But the second I pulled up to the vet she wasn't having any of it!

Thank you. They are nice looking frogs and fairly easy to care for. But b/c they don't move around much, unless food is involved, unfortunately they don't appeal to a lot of people, even other herptile lovers. Yet I find them kind of amuzing even if they spend most of their live buried under the soil in their tanks.
