Description it was easy to forget to love you.
so perhaps it’s my fault for our brokenness
for our extinguished spark;
it’s as if i forgot to plug us in or light our candle

                               but how many broken relationships
                               does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

                               none        because there was only screwing up not screwing in
                               none        because you screwed your lightbulb in someone else

i am trying to forget to love you again
but i’m still writing poems about what broke us,
summing us up in stanzas about lightbulbs;

do you remember that time when all my lights went out?
i sat on my bed and wrapped myself in shadows
until you showed up, with a box of florescent bulbs,
and scared away the dark

light bulbs and prose brings to mind  easy bake ovens, paper mache' bombs and  light brights.
A savior for those kids  who were afraid of the dark (like me),
An unwelcome intrusion the first time I took my clothes off for a man  (shy just a bit),
 A road sign to the place  where idea's are born.
And therapists.
do you know how many it takes to change a light bulb?
Just one.
But....
the light bulb has to want to change.

you have inspired me

Emotions can be all over the place; that's just how they work.

That is very true. Sad, but very true.

I can relate to this poem. It's a reflection of all the pain I had to endure after realizing how many years on someone I thought
would be "the one". Only to find out where I had made the mistake: "I thought" but never seem to realize what I had to accept no matter
how painful the reality was (and still is).

Reality can be a bitch a lot of the time, eh?

Aww...I can somewhat relate..me and my girlfriend where split up by my homophobic mother...we where forbidden to see each other and I felt so broken and empty. I thought she was the one...Well now here's where I can't relate. Apparently she was because we're back together and madly in love xD x3333

This is so good from so many angles. I love how the theme can be used in so many ways, and I think you used it brilliantly. I feel like giving you a hug too.

This seems really heartfelt, and I like that it seems grim, it seems hopeless, but at the end there is a small spark of contentment.

at least that's my interpretation??? I really enjoyed it, anyway!! ^^

It's really beyond me how people would ruin relationships on purpose just for bragging rights.

Not ~totally~ sure what you mean here in regards to this poem, but thank you for the comment, nonetheless!

I mean, in regards to the poem, that it seems to take a lot of relationship for someone to get bragging rights as a player/heartbreaker or whatever. And you're welcome.
