Description
My super late Secret Santa gift for a certain someone over at .The request was for a picture of Jak and Daxter exchanging Christmas presents. How adorable is that? I hope you like it! And sorry for the lateness.
See, my reasoning here is... Dax owns a bar. He could probably afford to buy Jak something ridiculously extravagant, yet ultimately useless. But Jak will like it, of course, because it's from his best bud. I have no idea what Jak got for Dax.
I also don't know what's in that glass, but it looks an awful lot like mouthwash. XD

Daw that's so cute. Damn... I hate being late but this still looks awesome and I can imagine Daxter doing something like this for Jak, after all, they are best friends. ^^ This is just too cute. Really awesome work!

That is adorable and cheeky of Daxter. I thought it'd be the opposite though. Dax owns a bar yes, but Jak is royalty, he has enough moolah to last several generations. But you know, even then, Daxter would pull this. He's just that prideful and we all love him for it. XD
Great smooth coloring and lineart. Much like a cartoon.

Thanks! As for the whole royalty business, they don't find out about that until the next game. So as far as I'm concerned, Jak's still dirt poor.

Doesn't this take place in Jak 2? So technically, Jak would find out he's the prince in the same game, just waaaaaay late in the game. Either way, Daxter would be try and one-up his friend. XD

Wait, I thought he found out about the prince thing near the end of the third game, the second one just confirmed he was a descendant of Mar. I think. Damn it, I need to play these games again!

Around the beginning of Act 2, Young Samos tells Jak that the kid is the "lost heir to the throne" (exact wording). Jak at the ending with the final boss fight, Metal Kor, finds out he and the child are one and the same. I'm pretty sure Jak is smart enough to put two and two together. All Jak found out in the 3rd game is that Damas was his father. (Yes, I am obsessed with Jak 2, can't ya tell? I love that one the most.)

Drat, you're right. Again! I bow to your superior obsession.
Okay, how about this... The Council seems to be running things in Haven by Jak 3, and Veger isn't fond of Jak. If they have the power to banish him, they probably have the power to deny him any privileges he may be entitled to. AHAH! Oh, wow. I really needed an explanation that worked.

Actually, I agree, the council and Ashelin seems to be largely in charge of Haven. Ashelin especially makes sense as being the Baron's daughter and having been around Haven since, I assume, birth, she will understand politician matters much more than Jak does. I'm just disappointed Jak just didn't take the throne and relearn his heritage because I have a fondness for fictional royalties. XD

I don't know... Jak doesn't seem like a guy who wants to do all that paperwork. I mean, the guy spends a lot of his time taking directions and beating people up. Then again, Damas made a pretty decent king, so who knows?
Sorry for the incredibly late reply, I lost my brain for a few months, there.

This is really personal bias from my end because I have a fascination for fictional royalties. Also, I'm half a mind to think Jak has enough character development that he can at least shoulder some responsibilities...though I am also saying this because pretty much after Jak 2, I tend to dismiss the rest. I'm one of the few who hates, hates, HATES Jak 3's storyline. XD

lol You are like the complete opposite of me. Even if I dislike a game (like, say, The Lost Frontier) I will use my comic book geekery to twist and reason away all the things that I hate about it until I end up liking it. Eg; Oh, Jak's just having an identity crisis because he can't go dark anymore. Ah, yes, There was a gap between the second and third games. Plenty of time for Jak and Keira to have an off-screen breakup! Basically just grasping at straws.

I think I'm one of the few fans who didn't hate "The Lost Frontier". Wait, that's inaccurate, I think the game was very average to me because I really do think it hit a lot of good elements tracing back to the very first game that I felt the other Jak series missed (such as uses for the other Eco besides dark and light, the colorful environments - Aeropa is gorgeous - and of course, Nice Jak which is one of things I hated about Jak 3, that the developers had to angst him up because, I don't know, it's "edgier", and so forth). It was just marred with the bad (shitty camera, same friggin' gun, and I'm halfway through the game, but I heard Jak does something that's out of character, otherwise, I had no problems with the story so far and hell, prefer it over Jak 3's, etc)
I just basically created stupid fanfics that retcon Jak 3 to what I liked (basically made it an AU because, well, it is - I mean, it was a crossover with Crash Bandicoot - can you blame me? I was 18. Ahaha), but hey, what fan hasn't done that? XD

Ah, yes! There was a real feeling of nostalgia there. I mean, you could tell what the developers were going for, that they were really trying to please fans of TPL in both feel and gameplay. I guess the thing everyone's complaining about is the way Jak treats Daxter. He's not a pet, gosh darn it! Though it was nice seeing him smile once in a while instead of being all Tidus-y (Yes, I'm referring to Jak 3).
I personally loved TLF because it was a glitchy adventure. The gunstaff was permanently disabled half way through the game, there was random time traveling between cut scenes and I played the whole game fearing that world would collapse in on itself. Fun times!
...
Yeah. That sounds like a freaking awesome AU. I mean, Crash Bandicoot? That's just crazy!

neoyi In reply to Paira [2011-06-17 02:41:39 +0000 UTC]
I think Jak: TLF was a series that really did try to capture the glory of the first while keeping the more driven stories of its sequels, only to end up a little...broken along the way. Average or not, disliked by many fans or not, I will give the developers credit, they put effort and tried. ^^
Now I need to get off my ass and finish the rest. XD
