Description I doodled some feathers onto my T. rex render to see how it would look like with a coverage similar to a bison's coat
(inspired by a friend to do so)
I believe this is the most reasonable feather extent aside from an elephantine fuzz

My T. rex model used a reference sheet that was drawn over a skeleton made by
A big thank you to him for allowing me to use his skeletal as reference!

Love that vulture/bison-like feathery coat on T. rex.

That is pretty dope, especially the feather placement! Saurian did mention that their tyrannosaurus will look a lot like tyrantrum and your model looks pretty similar to it.

Definitely loving the "diminutive vestigial cape/shawl of feathers" look on T. rex these days. It looks neat imo!

Highly conservative feathering, but good.

Don't you think Rex would have more feathering? Yutyrannus had a near full coat, so rex probably had something similar going on

But we have skin impressions that while don't mean it 100% lacked feathers it likely had way less than yutyrannus.

yes, it probably did have fewer feathers than Yutyrannus, but probably not to this extreme of baldness. think saurian rex for an example. the saurian rex seems to have most of the areas known to be scaly being scaly, besides the one around the back. note that these skin impressions are also very tiny.

Indeed, the restrictive and balder looking tyrannosaurs don't look or feel right, and that is not bias speaking.
The saurian team's interpretation looks natural and keeps with the science without going into either extreme.
That's why for me at least, it's the most balanced rex reconstruction, at least in my eyes.

I would imagine an adult tyrannosaurus-rex would have feathers covering all of the top of it and going into a smooth transition of scales when it gets to the mid point with very little to no feathers on the bottom.
