Description (EDIT: Altered the color to be a bit brighter. How does he look?)

I'm on a colored pencil spree at the moment. Bear with me! (If you'd like. )

My pallanoph assassin character Tjardek has been neglected just a bit in terms of color, especially when it comes to those crazy eyes of his. (The term is heterochromia iridum, and he suffers no loss of function in the pale eye, just for the record.) Given that he is raised alongside his pale eyed brother, Sorstan, in the midst of the amber/brown eyed Teirn tribe, he's regarded as more than a bit unsettling in terms of appearance. He's also considered dangerous, and his temperament can be unpredictable. One would do best not to provoke him at all.

So. Here he is, being his creepy lurker self, no doubt going after a target. I fear for whoever he's looking at.

I'm a little on the fence about how his coat color looks here, as well as the overall lighting/shadows. Guess it's a lesson I'll learn over time. The pale eye looks a bit strange regarding shadows as well. (Also, why did I think it was a good idea to put that branch so close to his eye?) Those are silver fir needles, by the way.

On another note, I think I will enable critiques for this piece. So if you want to leave one in the box, by all means do so, or just leave it as a comment. I appreciate any feedback you may have.

Yeah, that one eye is really pale, to the point where it almost blends with the sclera, but I see what you mean about wanting the edge darkened just a bit. I'll play around with it some to see how it looks.

I've found colored pencils so much more fun after learning to work on colored, textured papers. And you should, when you get to feeling better!

Yes! I have a large like.. 18x24 Image to finish over 3 - 4 years in the waiting seen here - [link] That desperately needs to be completed D:

Gotta love the colored textured paper! Its my favorite with colored pencils. Especially Prismas

Egads, that would take a lot of time. Though of course, it would be very much worth the effort. I'd love to see the end result!

Prismacolors don't like me much, haha. I can only use a few of them as final touches, since I can't seem to layer them as well as Derwents/Caran d'Aches.

Its taken a lot more time than it should have. It is even more finished now. Just want to finish it XD

I used to use them all the time. But I have since lost most of the drawings. I used to be really good with them but have become rusty. It took me forever to get out of the habit of pressing too hard and getting the waxy film buildup. I haven't had the pleasure of using those brands yet. But I frequently use watercolors and prismas.

He could even be pretending he IS the tree.

They are rather lovely, if unsettling. But that's part of his charm!

I always worry their eyelashes might seem excessive, but then I guess it could be worse. Thank you! I must confess coloring the tear ducts was a little tricky.

I've wanted so long to really do an intense painting like this, so I'm glad the eyes have that hypnotic feel. I've been thinking about going back into it already to make some things pop, so we'll see how that goes.

Thankies!
