Concept work for characters in a children's book I'm currently working on.Head studies displaying the variations that can be found in Regali (my original species). The left is a male, as males generally have more tufts of hair or beards.
The majority of individual variations occur in scale location/amount, horn structure, facial shape, and color.

Yup! They're overall a combination of some of my favorite features (long caracal-like ears, deer-esque noses, antlers & horns, etc) but ki'rin are definitely a big influence. They're my favorite mythical creature. ^^
