Description
Oh yes. More sketches.Though I do heartily encourage critique at all times, I must also let you know that this is likely one of my first serious attempts at drawing a wild boar! So there are most definitely mistakes, and you're more than welcome to point them out. I won't bite.
To the point: Here we have a scene involving a pair of pallanophs from the Teirn tribe (Germanic) running down a boar. This type almost exclusively hunts wild boar when they aren't foraging for other foods (as omnivores, they will also eat fungi, berries, and a few herbs). They may occasionally subsist on smaller prey, though this is less common as the Teirn live rather communally in small family units. Hunting parties go forth every few days on such hunts, consisting mainly of males in their prime. Females do not regularly accompany the males when hunting boar, but may partake in their own separate hunts after less dangerous prey, which may consist of deer, or they may accompany their offspring in search of other edibles for gathering. Males of this type are fiercely devoted to their mates, and overall they tend to discourage females from participating in these very dangerous hunts for fear of fatal injury. However, there are exceptions to this "rule." Females of a more fiery nature, for example, may be permitted to join the males in these hunts.
Due to the boars' keen sense of smell, the pallanophs must make use of the breeze and keep downwind, using their stealth to take advantage of their prey's poor eyesight. After a brief chase they leap for the back and hindquarters in an effort to bring down the beast. They then rally around in a circle to strike while keeping clear of the lethal tusks. Despite the speed and agility of the Teirn, injuries are not uncommon!
Just a little snippet of background information for once.

I missed your sketches!
I would love to see this in color! That's either a very big boar - like the ones shown in Princess Mononoke, or the pallanophs are smaller than I thought. I love the action and tenseness in this drawing, and your anatomy is right on, I think, as always!

I really wouldn't mind doing a color image of this at some point, but aaaugh, so many things on my plate already! Maybe at some point in the future...
This is a very large boar. That, and the Teirn are a little shorter than my other types, so that could be part of it, too.
Thank you, dear!

Wow. That's incredible. The movement and vitality in this... this "sketch" (I need to go see something you've finished after this, after which I will probably cry) are just astounding. The facial expressions on the boar and pallanoph and the pallanoph's feet are awesome too. Just... wow. Just wow.

*hands you an artistic license* Even though boars can't turn their heads that far the pose is too awesome to change. Stunning action and expressions, and it's great to hear more about the customs and biology of pallanophs.

Thank you very much!

Well one way to do it is to look at the neck vertebrae, but much more fun is to find a friendly pig and tease it with some food The instant way to teach a pig to sit! (It's the only way they can look up).

With all these sketches and insights into the lives of pallanophs, you could make a book out of it all (reference book I mean, like an encyclopedia).

Yey! lovley pallanoph sketches!
When your draw them in action hunting it makes me think that you could actually site one of these creatures in a wood somwhere, there so wonderfully drawn and the way you have refrenced all the anatomy makes me (and probley a lot of others) imagine that these creatures are actually very real.
Bravo

I'm judging based only on the aggressive pigs my aunt has where she lives
Should of ask the hunter who lives there, who got chased by a boar in the forest, though D:

The way you've managed to maintain the accuracy of the anatomy even in this action sequence is amazing. Pallanophs are so beautiful ^ ^ I love how detailed your drawings of them are, and how you seem to know where each muscle goes and how it moves in action. Gorgeous. Sketches are always my favourites XD
