Description
Warning: Very large file. You can hit download for full size, however. Also, I regret to inform you that this is 1 of 2. D:There are a lot of my pallanoph species running amok in these, so I also apologize for that.
1. Tirlag, the Teirnlord, having one of his less balanced moments, 2. A little sketch in which we have Sorstan the assassin disabling his brother in arms, Reivig. To those up in knowledge on my novel, this is where that betrayal starts. (It looks like leapfrog, doesn't it?) Just a concept I could play around with to make it seem more believable. 3. Unnamed sparkly looking Germanic pallanoph. 4. Neng, who probably has a bigger fanbase than all my other characters combined, looking a bit dubious 5. Andirg pallanoph head studies! 6. Sacrilege! Pallanoph Sorstan -> Human Sorstan -> No comment. 7. The magpie like species of corvids that exist in my novel world alongside the pallanophs! I really need to get their design fleshed out and finished. 8. Mirthond, King Orstad's mate 9. Sorstan and his slightly unusual anatomy, posing again. 10. The Teirn ambassador Fleir (who has one ear, and is probably the most outright nasty piece of work in my writing!) beside Tirlag again, who looks a little melodramatic. 11. GRIFFIN,
And... I'm terrible. So get to a place high and dry real quick-like before the next wave hits, I'm going to feed my starving self.
All of this unnecessary mess is © to myself, April Schumacher. So I'd better not see a single shard of this being used in ways it shouldn't be.

My beloved ketch dumb! *stokes it lovingly while crooning* Oh how I have missed you all these years... never, ever leave me again!
How you label this sketch dump when I'd deem it a masterpiece had it come from my hands, I shall never know.

Hehe, it's nothing finished, and none of these really stand out on their own. So then I like to roll them up into big piles of graphite and throw them at all of you. (Cover your head!!!

That's the point friend! You have so much talent that to you, these don't stand out. I, on the other hand, would be thrilled. But it comes with the territory of being a rock'in good artist I suppose.

Where is your novell to be found? I want to be one of those who've read it, atleast a part of it XD
Your sketchwork is gourgous <3

It's not written down anywhere in full, but there are a few scenes I have on Livejournal. Of course, I have plenty of other scraps that haven't been typed, as well as a pretty intricate plotline, but most of it is rough.
Thank you!

I'm having such trouble drawing pallanophs for your contest and you make it look so effortless with all the complex poses and angles xP I can't even draw my own made up species that good >.<

Ah, but I draw them entirely too often (constantly between projects, that is!) and I have concluded that they are actually pretty tricky to draw. I'm sure the challenge is why I keep drawing them!

Mayhaps I use a couple for generic pose references or paw studies? Only cuz you're paws are divine. >.<
OTHERWISE. I do oh so LOVE looking at the sketchdumps of those with hands greater than mine own. 8D

I've had instances where people have traced without asking permission or even given credit, which is why I put up disclaimers. I can't say I'm an expert at anatomy, which means photo references are always a best bet, but I wouldn't be upset since you're asking permission. I just don't want people repeating my mistakes, I guess.
And thank you! I like sketching more than anything else, so it's nice people can enjoy the beginning stages as well as the final products.

Yes- I could only imagine that. x] Tracing is awful- though I'll be the first to admit that, if I'm using a photo ref (which I do more often than not) and there's a hard spot, tracing is useful. x] But I always redraw it- I never just trace and go with it, because then it isn't my style. ^_^
And haha- but you would be an expert at anatomy of Pallanoph's! <33 But I do understand ^_^
And no problem, I love sketching the most too- it's the most freeing part of the artwork. Though most people like colors more. :/

Well, that method of tracing makes better sense that most, I think. Especially since you redraw it.
I suppose I am the only one who draws pallanophs frequently, but... I still have plenty to learn. What can I say, they keep me occupied!

sparkpaw In reply to pallanoph [2011-10-01 01:07:30 +0000 UTC]
Ya, I will say I don't condone tracing- but when you do it in a way that is intended to improve your skill but not rip off or be cheap, I can't have much quarrel with it. ^_^
Haha, I'd hope you'd be the only one to draw Pallanoph's frequently- when your name is Pallanoph. x] And I bet they do! They're absolutely amazing- but your detail in the sketches! I mean- I see that you flesh out your sketches; perhaps I should attempt the same thing one day. x] Maybe even draw a Pallanoph myself. ^_^

Okay, you are offically my hero, These are amazing! Pallanophs are just such gorgeous creatures. I really like number 6, where you show what Sorstan would look like as a human

Haha, I'm flattered...
And thanks! Sorstan, Nharath, and Tjora are probably the easiest pallanophs to humanize, since they're the only ones who have turned out halfway decent during my experiments.
