"He quietly entered the room in which his best friend slept. His bones creaked and ached, his muscles worn from his trials. The pain was almost nauseating. But it all stopped when he saw her.

Her unconscious form was utterly vulnerable and beautiful, so much more beautiful than he'd ever realized, and it tore at his heart. It was his fault this had happened to her, that's what he kept telling himself. If only he'd been able to protect her somehow. But it didn't matter anymore. Now, she didn't even remember him, remember anything they'd gone through. The childish wrestling matches that stopped as their bodies developed and they became awkward with one another, the long nights in the spring looking at the small patch of stars, their laughter with the younger kids on those warm summer days... He swallowed thickly. How had he never realized before she was taken from him?

Stepping softly, he knelt by the side of her bed and stroked her hair like it was made of something sacred. He then pressed his lips to her skin.

He would get her back from the Twilight that had overtaken her mind, just as he would save them from the Twilight that had overtaken the land.

He would protect her. No matter the cost."

Oiiiiyyy.... Still not happy with this piece... but it's as done as it can be with my current abilities, I suppose... Though the only part I'm genuinely happy with is the hair OTL

When I first started Twilight Princess I was a bratty little kid who really hated Ilia, because "ZELINK IS LIFE." But after growing up and and being able to appreciate many different things, I honestly really like the idea of her and Link together. She's so pretty and different and the childhood friends angle is something I'm a sucker for. Not to mention there is some GREAT fanfiction out there for these two... Ooo, maybe I should write some?? What fun that would be... hmmm. xD

AHEM. ANYWAYS. I HOPE EVERYONE ENJOYS THIS PIECE. if not that's okay. Plz be harsh. Still on my quest to improve.
