Not gonna lie, people... I reeeally want to call her "Plusenta".
anyway, new OC to go with the rest!OK, this was just to vent a little frustration. Just a quick one! God damnit, YouTube is screwed up these days. You know I wouldn't even mind so much (don't really post many videos or comments) except for the friggin' dialogue box that pops up asking me whether this time I maybe wanna sign in with my real name instead of my alias account.
NO. I DO NOT. STOP IT. STOP ASKING.
WHERE is the checkbox saying "Never ask me this question again, die dialogue box, die, I hate you."?
I actually rather like Google+ ON ITS OWN but this integration has been very badly handled... and really would want to minimise use of my real name online anyway. You know, as common sense dictates?!!

Also.. actually no, it's pretty much just money.
Somehow, they have evaluated that this change will bring them more money. Presumably by forcing use of G+ by integrating it with so many popular Google services, they can gather a lot more information about their users than then can glean from your emails, browsing history, etc. Instead you're directly uploading the info into your profile. Names, locations, people you associate with, who in turn upload their own data, now all that is tied in with who you are as a YouTube and Gmail user, and your habits on those sites, as well as your normal Google activity in search. Much more valuable information than anonymous data is. Even if they don't share your personal info, having it "validated" with a unique human identity makes it much more valuable.
Go to your Google account dashboard:Β www.google.com/settings/dashboβ¦
This will tell you a lot about the data they have on you. The Maps location history dashboard is particularly creepy... they actually have a vaguely accurate breakdown on how much time I spent at work, at home, and out of the house. Generated from where my phone is, presumably.Β
There's also your google web history:Β history.google.com/history/ Β which breaks down your google-related web activity as it pertains to search.

If you haven't already, I suggest you disconnect your google+ profile from YouTube. That way you can have a proper alias and use youtube properly.

Ah well. It doesn't bother me too much seeing as I can use my alias still. I just don't want the friggin popup thing to ask me every time if I've suddenly changed my mind on how to use YouTube.

Yeah, that popup thing really is annoying. Does your youtube also randomly log you out at times?

Yes! It also does other irritating things, like videos randomly hang several seconds into playing (usually sound keeps going and the video catches up a few seconds later). Also on the phone it recently took to greying out the videos with the Chromecast icon whenever I fullscreened the video. This then won't go away until you restart the phone/force quite the YouTube app and clear all data. Very annoying!

I am so sick of having to have my every move monitered by others becauae of their failures and paranoia. It will get worse every dayd until the people have enough of it. Right now they will see these comments and put us all un the surveillance list.

I may be the only one who has this problem, but ever since the G+ fiasco youtube has also been freezing a hell of a lot on me, and by that I mean all the damnΒ time!

My issue with it is that it doesn't let you use a pre-existing account unless it was already linked to g+, and even then, that's not a 100% garuntee.

The problem is that Google+ and Youtube users are completely at odds in purpose. By and large, people only use Google+ for one purpose: video chat with people they know. Because it's better at video chat than Skype. Compare Youtube, where anonymous BS has long been a staple (for good or for ill), and the two are fundamentally incompatible. Now when commenting on a video, one has to ask oneself "do I care if people I know IRL know that I watched and commented on this?". Or use another account, which is a pain because logging in on Youtube logs you into every other Google thing, and vice versa (to the point at which you're using two different browsers, or browser profiles if you're savvy enough, to separate your RL activity from your Anon activity).

You left out the part about how when you click the link to see the comment that that comment was responding to it doesn't just show it like it did before but instead it reopens the page in another tab so you can see it as the top comment Β (and reloads the video from the beginning)

Once people have vented their frustration, the complaints will die down. That's how it goes. Look at every Facebook change ever, same thing really. I'm already seeing less of this anti-G+ ASCII copypasta in the YouTube comments.
