We'll forgo the questions on just why they're trying to browse the web on a dirt patch in the middle of the countryside. No doubt it seemed like a great idea at the time. Still doesn't explain the fire...

It used to suck really bad and made a bad name for itself. Β It's better now, but I'd rather just stick with Chrome.

It still does odd and inexplicable things at random - I have to use it at work - which is why I stick to Chrome on my laptop.

Noscript alone makes it better than others. Complaints about RAM leakage and security holes are highly exaggerated and usually the fault of using the wrong addons. Though their shenanigans with Flash sandboxing interfering with hardware acceleration in the newer versions is annoying.
But then, flash is being phased out in favor of html5, anyway.
Also, noscript is intimidating to the uninitiated. Ghostery is an okay poor-mans substitute, so long as the ghostrank is shut off and blacklisted.
