Description Fact: ponies are machine-washable.

Part Two:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There you have it, folks! Can't imagine what revenge Sweetie Belle will want to exact (feel free to note/comment me some suggestions, heheh).

I had to do some sleuthing to guess the layout of Rarity's hallway. It's still a guess. From the frame's perspective, the washroom is pictured directly ahead, the main 'boutique' (where all the magic happens?) and work room is off to the right, round the corner. Behind and to the left is the entrance to the kitchen, and directly to the left is the stairs to upper floors, and beyond them, the side door to the outside world.

I'm really rather happy with the visuals in the hallway scene. These are probably my favourite frames of the series!

I shouldn't need to say it, but MLP:FiM is copyright Hasbro, these stupid comics are not affiliated in any way, yadda yadda, you all know it already.

Sheesh, does Rarity need anger management or what? Β Good thing Sweetie's a cartoon character and survived her washing machine experience in one piece (albeit soggy). Β

Thb I find the idea of Rarity throwing Sweetie in a washing machine like that more shocking than the prank.

She seems to be OK though... just a bit dizzy

ParallaxMLP In reply to JNinelives [2014-11-10 19:55:25 +0000 UTC]

Heh yeah she's fine. Rarity would never hurt her, of course. It's been interesting to see how many people were shocked by this comic! Particularly because they're cartoon characters and physics/reality need not apply (making washing machines a feasible alternative to bathing) and worse has arguably happened in the show, in terms of abuse or shock value (for example when Fluttershy appeared to have snapped that bear's neck back in the day, my jaw hit the floor, it was brilliant).

JNinelives In reply to ParallaxMLP [2014-11-11 10:55:25 +0000 UTC]

I guess it's what you are familiar with .
It still feels uncomfortable for me... but before MLP I wasn't really into animation, and it was a pretty soft introduction in terms of abuse/shock.

Also for me MLP is a safe environment, and that is a large part of it's appeal.
There is lots of MLP-related content and more with war or horror themes, not to mention NSFW stuff. That's not my interest, but I'm fine with all that.
Even in those areas, the communities of people who create that content, to me, still feels like a safe and welcoming place.

I still see MLP in this context, and I don't watch anime... or really much other animation at all. I enjoyed the original Dragon Ball series for a while, but even then there were things that shocked me... I expected violence, but there wasn't anything resembling abuse. It was the frequent nosebleeds that shocked me... I'm told that's normal for anime, but it seemed weird because it wasn't what I was used to.

Interesting! You remember kids animations (films/series) from a couple of decades ago? Dude, they could bebrutal compared to what kids watch today. Blood and gore and cruelty and everything, sometimes.Β Today you'd never be allowed to air some of the stuff that used to be on kids TV back then. Which is a shame really, kids today aren't getting as full a spectrum of experiences from a lot of the things they can watch now. Character building stuff, wot wot!

Dragon Ball, yeah that was a watch and a half! Nosebleeds... I guess you're thinking of Master Roshi, heh? Well, a big part of anime is exaggeration; the characters are, more often than not, extremely expressive. When you're thinking of something perverse or exciting, your heart rate/blood pressure rises slightly... the exaggerated implications being you'll spring a nosebleed (this is a Japanese cultural thing too, far as I know... it is an old belief that nosebleeds are signs of sexual excitement).

If you were curious about seeing some great anime I could recommend things (with minimal nosebleeds or shocking-ness if you like, haha). There's some incredible stuff out there.

JNinelives In reply to ParallaxMLP [2014-11-12 08:35:14 +0000 UTC]

I was born early 90s, and I think my parents let my brother and I start watching TV around the year 2000.
So I don't remember much of that kind of stuff XD.

I think that children's programs I watched were pretty devoid of that stuff - there was violence but it was so comically exaggerated that nobody could take it seriously.
That said, violence in film and computer games is pretty normal, and I know there are young kids who play shooters.

Personally the violence I've come across IRL has shocked me more than anything... and watching the news about foreign affairs can be more brutal than anything that takes place in the games I play. Probably the best character building I could recommend is learning about the Nazi Germany in WW2, or the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia

I'd be keen for some recommendations ! I don't mind violence, but I'm sensitive to cruelty. I enjoy humour a lot, but I find sexual humour is often crude.Β  I find shows which are dark and take it seriously easier to enjoy that those in which people swear for no reason (e.g. South Park). I like character development, action, drama, suspense, mystery, fantasy and sci-fi.
