This is the second part of my tutorial, Parting of the Red Sea. I had a personal request of how I paint using Painter, so I just followed my progress through one of my pieces and put this together. I hope it's useful!!

Here's part I: [link]

That's the only real step worth doing.

Thanks for this! It is tough to find detailed painter tutorials. I am trying to stick to painter exclusively, so this is helping quite a bit.

I'm glad you like it! I usually just use painter alone, too, and I completely agree that there aren't enough tutorials for this program, even though it is used so much.
If you're REALLY looking for good painter tutorials, though, I suggest you save up a little money and buy a Gnomon Workshop DVD. They're a little pricey, so I just bought Ryan Church's intro to Painter, but it has helped tremendously.
Well, good luck either way! :-D

hehe, I actually had to do that already

Except I bough one for photoshop a while back >.> Its a little counterproductive of me.

And I too find it strange that there are so little tutorials. Especially on DA. I think I might do a couple in the future to fill in the gaps. When I am better at it that is

fo sho!
You don't have to wait until you think your "better" to do a tutorial, really. I mean, there's always something to learn from them, whether you're a more skilled artist or not. Either way, I think the process of making an in-depth tutorial is also good practice for yourself - to really analyze how you work and what you're thought process is, and sometimes what you forgot to consider along the way. So go ahead and make one now! YAYA! :-D

I don't actually have Painter, but this was so beautifully done I had to fav it. And when I get Painter this will definitely come in handy.

aw, well thanks anyway!
I definitely recommend painter, if you're at all indecisive. I used to work all in photoshop, but now I'm totally immersed in painter. Let me know when you get it!
