Kiriban picture for ~Nimdi-Nilin . It's her character who represents spring and..... some random bird thing. It's robin-based, but it's not a robin. :/
I've been working on this all weekend. I finished tweaking the sketch on Friday, and I've been coloring it all Saturday/Sunday. The original is much more vivid than the one here just to let you know. I think I need to get another scanner: the one I have now always dims my colors and ruins my contrast. D'oh! >.<
Anyway, I decided to use a piece of really heavy-duty cardstock for this one. The original color of it is more of a brownish/reddish/purpleish color. I was pretty scared to use the thing at first (it was textured, it was a dark color) but it seemed to have worked out fine. The character's colors match it pretty well if I do say so myself. XD

Huh. It does look like paint now that I really look at it. I wish I was nearly that good with acrylics, though.

The critiques from you and skysealer really helped the final piece. Do you see how I outstretched the wing on the left like you said? That totally balanced the picture out a whole lot: before, it was sort of leaning to one side composition-wise.

Yeah, I thought the fur and the coloring wasn't going to turn out so hot (due to the dark colored paper) but it came out pretty good. :}

Augh, amazing! I love how the wings are green-tipped for some reason, and the blending... wonderful. The musculature on the leg's really nice, though I wish a little more of the detail you put there also made it onto the arms.

Hehe, I was hoping no one would notice that. I'm okay with the muscles on the upper arm, but the ones on the lower arm scare and confuse me. My own arms are too fat to see them, and it seems I can't find any tutorials or anatomy books that cover them. Pity, too. So much is gone to the shoulder/upper arm region. ><

Elements doesn't have a color balance thing. Well, it does, but it's not nearly as good as the one on plain old PS. D;
