Description: If you know that you like foxes, then the best known fox is the red fox. Despite that they lived in the Northern Hemisphere, from Arctic Circle, to North Africa, to Eurasia, to North America, which not only that they are the biggest true foxes, but had the most widest distribution for carnivorans, along with the weasel, the red foxes are famous, for the legends, tales, and folklore depict that these foxes are the tricksters in Europe, among the golden jackal(Canis aureus). These foxes are introduced to Australia, as feral foxes, whom they rivaled against cats, dogs, and even dingos. In Tasmania, the red foxes can be outcompeted by the Tasmanian devils. What else you want to know, eh? Does kitsunes are mythical foxes? Yes they do! The kitsunes are more like the foxes with many tails, thanks to one of the popular kitsune characters, like Miles "Tails" Prower, from the Sonic the Hedgehog series. Not all red foxes can be kept as exotic pets, originated from Russia, but some foxes can be territorial in the wild to protect their kits. And not all red foxes are complete red, which they are recognized by their busy tails tipped in white, some foxes can be brown, silver, black, and even albino white. In the Celtic mythology, that red foxes are the symbolic animals. In Cotsworlds, that witches turns themselves into foxes, to steal butter from their neighbors. In the Greek myth, that the mythic monster whose probably a fox, whose one of the children of Edchidna(Mother of all monsters) whose never been able to be caught, is the Teumessian Fox or the Cadmean Vixen. We all know that the fox is rhymed with a box, uh? No! Not in a box, not with a fox! That kinda reminds me that these stories by Dr. Seuss that had featured foxes. Besides the foxes being pets, people sees the foxes as pests who steal poultry, guinea pigs, and domestic rabbits from their masters. Also some people can use their domestic dogs and weapons to hunt the foxes for their fur. The clothes are made out of fox furs, is consisted of scarfs, jackets, trimmings, coats, muffs, etc. We do see the foxes in cartoons, like the fox from Hanna Barbara's Yakky Doodle for example, and Reddy and Grandma Fox from the anime Fables of the Green Forest, and movies, like Disney's The Fox and the Hound(including Todd and Vixie), Song of the South(Brer Fox), Pinky from Don Bluth's Rock-A-Doodle, Nick Wilde from Zootopia, etc.
