I disagree with the critique about the lighting.
The light is not only coming from the back but from above too; landing perfectly on the horse as you have it.
In my opinion, the lighting is the reason why nothing else is needed in this work; coupled with the beauty of this animal, it's what makes this art so stunning!

That mane and tail just...In defense, I find the face quite attractive. Those three lines are a natural part of horse anatomy, and I feel that horse faces are too smudged in many manipulations. Though the horse might need to be a touch darker, I think that if it were too dark it'd throw off this beautiful image.
Very well done! It's a rare enough thing to find a manipulator now-a-days who knows how to make their image truly stand out, while not missing out on the important technicalities
