The human hand touching the edge of the picture symbolizes the fact that even though she is now a machine, she is still human inside.
(a very cyberpunkish thought)
I also have a pink haired version... not sure which I like more.
Full size available for download.
Crappy line-art due to using the old tablet. (took it with me on the ship.)
Enjoy, and leave a comment if you like.

Yeah, Rodinia is full of androids.
If you would like to create your own character for my world that would be awesome!
It's sort of my crazy idea of the week. We would both keep the copyrights for our own creations they would just be put together.
It would probably just amount to us linking to each others profiles from the same piece of art. ( I could do the background).
Might be kinda cool. It doesn't have to be super labor intensive either, I kinda like a little sketchiness with this kind of stuff.

Sounds like fun) Gotta read up on your tech level though. What is allowed and what isn't.
I will brainstorm for some ideas...

Cool! Yeah the tech is as high as you want.
The old Rodinian state had reached a sort of Lovecraftian level of knowledge almost like madness!
They could do just about anything and got kinda crazy
And ruined their world.
So there's all kinds of tech but it's always a little messed up.

I think that there are more important human traits than consumerism, itΒ΄s more like buying created wants that should sublime a lack of deeper understanding and meaning of the world. ItΒ΄s the idea of status and rat race. Perfection is death.
There may be good reasons to get artificial body parts (injuries and illnesses for example, and then everybody independent from income should get them), but capitalist competition and following the promise of 100 percent customer satisfaction" is not.
Nothing against transhumanism in general (though I think itΒ΄s a nerds religion (it is becoming real, but they donΒ΄t know the consequences), but under capitalism it will divide society and will only bear the results of every social darvinistic ideology before it: Genocide.
So, how many people in far away countries do you want to see suffering for your progress?
Try spiritual growth first, itΒ΄s cheaper and more healthy for all of us..
Just my opinion, but thumbs up for the nice and sexy picture.

Thank you for taking your time to comment))
Perfection cannot be achieved. The companies make sure that "perfection" is a constantly changing goal. Thus keeping the consumer following something they can never reach.
Well, without the "want" of the consumer, there won't be any funding put into research. Or at least not as much as should be put in. If there is no profit, there is no reason to put money into it. (from the perspective of the companies.)
Making it available to all is a socialist thought. Many such thoughts stop short at dreaming. Who is going to fund all this expensive research and these products? Probably the people, through taxes and whatnot.
So if you have to pay for the technology, you might as well get a choice in what you buy.
For those that cannot afford it, get a loan. The same with buying a new car these days. I think the monthly payments are more than worth it compared to the benefits that the "sick and disabled" get.
There is another reason why consumerism is a pro in this case... Improvement. Just look at the prosthetics on the market today. they are almost the same crap that was available donkey years ago..
I agree with you on the Nerd religion part. BUT like you mentioned before, people that need the improvements. So that they may finally be free from hospitals and the like. They can dream can't they? A miraculous recovery is less likely then a technological revolution.
Genocide is a bit far fetched, we survived all the other technological revolutions up till this age. I think we will survive the next ones too.
And why would they suddenly be suffering? You make it sound like they are fine now and living happy lives!? There has always been differences between countries, some resulting in war and suffering. it has been like this for as long as humanity craps on this earth. it will continue until hell freezes over.
Spiritual growth? Don't make me laugh, there is no such thing as a god or gods. If you want to believe in something, make it the power of humans to make a difference. The impact of each willing individual might vary but every bit helps.
And thanks, it is appreciated ))

There was ever a difference between the poor and the rich, but it was never as big as today.
The jobs are getting fewer and worse paid for the most. The number of un- and underemployed around the world is rising as the conflicts over resources are.
Capitalism is build up on constant usage of natural resources (resources are one, if not the major reason for war) and human labour (means human beings are subordinated to machinery)but itΒ΄s also build up on debt, because the demand can never match the supply (as the surplus value for the investor is abstracted from the total created value, giving the producers (and therefore consumers) less money than they created. ThatΒ΄s why mortgages and credit card debts are rising.

I can give you several other sources to read, if interested. But only few want really to get into it.
Spiritual Growth wasnΒ΄t meant regarding to god. I donΒ΄t believe in god, the firm or the state. It was meant as a growth in comprehension, culture and mind beneficial for all.

upgrades, like motor control and whatnot, are fine. What I mean is memories. I know that our memory is a fickle thing, but I still don't want it touched. We are our experiences, after all.

if you wake from a coma, with no memories left, you would still be you. Even if you don't have any memories of your past, or the person you are. Others who knew you before the coma, have memories of you. wouldn't that be enough to feel yourself again?

Xewleer In reply to patrickuhl [2010-11-20 20:45:48 +0000 UTC]
Not really. I'd be a 'new person' a new iteration, so to say. I wouldn't really angst about it too much, though. Not really something you can change until you gather everything back together, you know?

patrickuhl In reply to Xewleer [2010-11-21 21:15:27 +0000 UTC]

But what if you could scan your brain, and it would be replicated in exactly the same way. you wake up, but would it be you?
Can it be compared to sleeping? if you wake from your sleep, is it really you, or just a body with memories?
