Awesome! Impressive to think the megastructure might be so big it ends near jupiters orbit.

It is huge, especially considering the amount of time spend on building it.

Wow, I REALLY like this! All those details on the buildings...
The only thing that bugs me is the sky, I'd suggest to make it just a little bit brighter, because some parts of the buildings and the girl's head are barely visible. But everything else is great

thanks!
Yeah I have a full HD screen on my laptop which brightens the colours in an amazing way. I kinda figured other screens might not be up for scraps when it comes to dark drawings
I will try changing it

I LOVE IT. HOLY GOD.
It's beautiful. You capture Nihei's gritty feel so well - especially on Jupiter's watercolor-realistic feel. Who's that standing on the ledge though? I gotta earn this lovely drawing soon! Like, very soon!

Glad you like it that makes my day.
I love gritty stuff. And this is my first space scene! I think it turned out ok.
Dunno who it is. she just came to mind. mostly to give the picture depth.
Heh, no need to rush. I'm so glad you want to do this for me!

Hell yes it turned out ok. It's awesome. I'm in Las Vegas right now, so I'm looking around for comic stores here. But all of them sell porn and I can't go in, because I'm not 21 years old yet T____T

Wicked, been to las Vegas. Its... a unique experience.
Pff americans and their 21 years. here you just need to be 18 like every normal thinking person would find acceptable
Thanks for not giving up the hunt!
Just came back from Rome myself, It was awesome!

That's pretty much how I imagined it.
How the heck did they deal with the sun? I mean, in the story they had used Jupiter as materials. My guess would be they hooked up a whole bunch of solar generators to gather the sun's energy. Yeah, I just answered my own question.

Good, then it seems I did the right thing.
Yeah just encase it and use it as a power plant. it's a nuclear reaction anyway. just a bit bigger than we are used to. AND big is not an issue apparently.

Mmm. I think it would be cool in the comic to have a sort of megastructure thing. Multiple levels, sewage levels, etc.

Well, the colony is one big city. And the buildings themself are a warren of rooms, corridors and stuff.
So yeah, you will be seeing all kinds of different levels, and communities.

I'm only 1 person, and there are loads of projects on my desk
I was planning on cutting chapter 1 short and skipping to nr 2 just so I can continue with the story. A short bike-chase should suffice. chapter 2 will be full of street view city drawings. and loads of weird locations/people.
lol, don't blink, you might miss the update!

Whoa, the textures in this picture make it look so amazing. I really like how you managed to capture that emptiness that always seems to show up in Nihei's backgrounds, even when it's full of weird machinery.
So cool so cool .

Thank you, glad you like it.
Nihei is an unique artist, my only hope is that he will continue to draw cyberpunk like he used to. Not that the story in knights of sidonia is bad, it's a bit clean for my taste.
And I'm not a mecha fan.
Thanks again.

LOL idk... the think i like best about nihei is that he can get away with really messy lines and tons of tone without people complaining. Because he does it deliberately OTL... I was really surprised at how expressive it was.
I don't really know if change is a bad thing in an artist though... It's interesting that their work matures along with them.(went ahead and looked up knights of sidonia...)
Eh... I would be if i could draw it XD.

true, its a skill.
I wouldn't call sidonia mature, more like an immature overexplained story. but it is fun nonetheless. besides, I miss his super crazy architecture.
Your drawings look good though??

LOL i read some and was like D:, Have you read Bakuman? I think Nihei's trying to write shonen manga. Except that his artwork is still unsettling even when it's trying to be generic OTL. I felt so sad when i saw the narration. (Because i loved Blame! and its chapters of pure sound effects)
D: he inspired me to draw backgrounds finally (though it doesn't show...)
Ah thank you LOL i wish they were less generic tho...People keep telling me to read stuff with unconventional styles and it'll rub off on me...

exactly my point. And no I did not read Bakuman...
hehe, backgrounds can add a lot to a piece.
just think about weird things and start to doodle, adding things together. you will eventually end up with some cool concepts.
good luck with that
