University Project: Third Year (2013/2014)This is an original weapon prop made for a hypothetical sequel to the film District 9.
I tried to keep the design of the gun in keeping with the design style of the official props made by WETA workshop, specifically the use of 45 degree angles and the distinctive orange, black and white colour scheme.
The idea behind this weapon is that it could create incredibly powerful vacuums at the target location, sucking in anything nearby until the vacuum has been sated.

I don't believe they have - perhaps I should try and get their attention!
(However, I did chat to a prop-maker at an exhibition in London who had collected the official Weta District 9 prop replicas; he claimed my paintwork and detailing was on level with the props he had at home and my gun would fit right in - which was a massive compliment!)

You should visit Weta at a con! Or you could post pictures to their Facebook page, though I doubt you'll get so much as a like on there! I think you could bring 'em to San Diego, Salt Lake, or New York comic con, and Richard would get a kick out of them! You'd probably get to talk to him for a while about how you made them!
