If only they would update the UI x-x. If they want funding and a bigger group of users to get the project really rolling they need to be visually pleasing. Though, personally, I have no interest in a sidebar and I like the idea of a ribbon interface. Microsoft Office 2010 is perfect as far as the ribbon and functionality goes. Hate MSO 2013's ribbon but if they could at least achieve what MSO 2010 did they would be golden.

Though, I guess I could learn to be ok with a autohide sidebar or something. Also, surprised DeviantArt has comment edit now O_O. I don't remember having that.

I don't think ribbons would work as a sidebar, would they? Sidebars are the way to go on todays 16:9 sized displays.

Mixing the two would be kind of clunky I would think. A top ribbon over all works very smoothly and looks very smoothly for everyone. Sidebars only work for larger monitors, which shafts netbook/small laptop users and tablet users who want all the horizontal space they can get. An autohide sidebar could work ok in these instances, but a ribbon is just more aesthetically pleasing. Office 2010s ribbon proved to be very functional and smooth, and for some reason in 2013 they felt the need to alter a good thing. I don't think it is as good of an experience in 2013. Either way, without a better UI LibreOffice will continue to crawl at a snails pace. If they made it look better, more people would use it, and more funding would probably come in. If a new UI came with a sidebar I'd be ok with that. Whatever gets them out of the Win95' style.

Kingsoft Office / WPS Office looks and functions fairly well, it's compatibility with office formats is superior to LibreOffice I've found actually. Its presentation software could use some work though. It has a ribbon similar to Office 2010 and is quite good. It's miles ahead of LibreOffice even if it could use tweaks, but I attribute that to it having a paid version which brings in revenue. It wouldn't be much extra work for them to update the UI with a ribbon and then have it be optional to switch to a sidebar. Anything will do at this point.

I love it!

Is it usable and if so, can it even be used on Windows?

White sheet, black icons on black bars. That's terrible.

This looks very much what KOffice (and Calligra) suit did... Works very well compared to MS Office.

After two years, LibreOffice is still ugly! They don’t have any designer!

I would seriously believe that, if this were developed, Micorsoft would have a hard time competing for home users. The only thing I could see them having over this is their advanced functionality (which most users don't use in the first place). If this started getting a lot of attention, I'm sure that there would be more funding for the project and it could possibly become something M$ would have to be afraid of.

Excellent! Very well done!

I had been debating creating my own GUI since OOo of 2003, and I recently 'almost' decided to do it, but my ideas were nowhere near as good as yours. Any idea if your theme will be available for Libre soon? It definitely should be available for Windows users too.

Thank you for such excellent work.

If only developers could accept these "mockup images" and make LibreOffice really like this.

I must say it looks beautiful.

I just hope this will be available to Windows users. Whenever possible I try to use free software, and LibreOffice is extremely functional, but it needs a little slickness.

I saw the post at OMGUbuntu, and i gotta hand it to ya, you just made a very awesome UI, it looks clean and nice... unlike the current OOo/LO UI. I prefer darker UIs, since it's easier on the eyes.

And if i knew japanese, i'd say: すごい (sugoi)... But I'm Brazilian so i'd say: Chique pra caramba.

If you want, you can try to use Calligra suit what gives you this one. But if you are forced to use Libreoffice, then you can not do it.
