Description
For a few months a system on dA allows us to view e.g. other deviations of the same gallery without needing to refresh the whole page. That might be a bit faster, and be more pleasant to eye (without that white blink when the page starts loading), but has a big impact on bookmarking or copy-pasting the URL shown in the address bar when we want to show someone a particular deviation. In such case, having clicked on the link or the bookmark, the user downloads the first page on which he landed to view the deviation (e.g. gallery, other work of the same artist, category), and then the deviation itself is loaded.I know the textbox with similar facility is hidden in the Share menu, but it isn't good for bookmarking either. One must copy the address in the "Link" section, paste it in their sidebar and then bookmark it. Or click the title to be redirected to static version of the deviation page.
The other way out is to include a line in page's header:
which might be good for bookmarks. This way users would still need to drop-down the Share menu to let someone know about the deviation in a more efficient way.
PS. Excuse me for my interpretation of permalink icon. I'm not a good pixel artist.
Ed. Thank you so much for the Daily Deviation! I hope this helps and dA deviations' pages would get the Permalink button (or the fav.me alias link more exposed).

Welll, I like the idea of "permalink" in life! As far as the pc's and parts go, I'm pretty clueless.

Good idea, and well delivered, I loved how your stated the problem and utilized your interaction skills to formulate a successful GUI that users here could really appreciate, It will also make DA more viral. Oh! and you are excused for your poor craftsmanship in iconography... Fireworks I presume?

Actually, it was done in a mix of GIMP (the icon and gluing this up) and Google Chrome and it's excellent Inspector tool to make up the button (I substituted the "Favourites" text with "Permalink" and made a screenshot).

Yeah, I hate what dA did to the deviation links. Several different link types to one page is just no good, it annoys me every day. This would be sweet.

In the good old days there was only one link - the http :// deviantart.com /deviation/{id} one. Then the fancy one with the title in it was introduced. Then, they added a shortlink fav.me feature. Now we've got millions of possible addresses because of the hashtag thingy...
In fact, we don't need a button itself maybe, but greater exposure of the "Link" section of "Details" menu.

Yeah. I think it's a real mess, I can't stand it. Especially not the redirecting links. I exclusively use the title link if I link to devs. I don't really care for the favme link either because I like seeing the name of the dev when I hover over the link.

Well, this way or the other, I think this thing could be done in another way. It just needs a thought or two in the core team

It's a link to the deviation that would stay as long as the deviation itself; when you click on any of the images while browsing, you'll notice a lengthy, unreadable string of letters and numbers, which might not work after, say, 3 months, instead of a shorter and clearer permalink: (I used an example from your gallery):

You can get the permalink by clicking on the name of the deviation though ?
In this one's case, the text that says "dA Suggestion: Permalink" beneath the image and above "by ~pawelabrams."

I'm so sick of people sending me non-working long-winded url's to dA images that give errors, and even more tired of having to right click a deviations title and having to "copy link location".

Personally I don't think the ability to view images without refreshing the page makes any differance other than creating new problems and giving the same visual experiance we had previously, but with a 0.005 second improvement on load-times
