Description
This is just a render of a model I was working on eons ago...Note that the model is far from finished. Temporary textures only. Have yet to scratch the surface in terms of detail... A lot of it is just basic primitives blocking out the final shape. I have framed it though in such a way that the areas with higher detail are shown...
Background is mine, made in photoshop. It can be found HERE ...
Love comments and stuff.
thanks

To get realistic lighting, you'd need to either indicate a source for the ship's different light or to turn the ship around so that the light from the sun hits in in a place the viewer can see. Or else just have the ship be in total shadow. This is a really cool scene, but it'd be better if you could see more of the ship in good light; if its there it should be shown.

So back off on the "fill" lights and let just the left side be lit? I'll give it a try...

Well, doing that would end up leaving the ship almost totally dark because the left side is away from the viewer. Almost everything visible in this image would naturally be in shadow.

Well, I tweeked some of the fill lights, the ambiant was at 5% for some reason so that was causing some flatness... Took that down to 0, and took down the other two fills to 10 and 5 (from 25 and 10). Turned the main light up to 300 from 200. Looks a little better now. Maybe not perfect, but at least better.

Actually...you could just add some lights to the ship *itself* with a halo or two. Most ships have running lights. That'd explain the lighting perfectly and give you more of it!
This does look better, I agree.

Considering that the ship is not done it works very well in the scene.
Your only problem from what I can see is that your lighting on the ship looks excellent but it does not match the direction of the light source in the background.
Besides that excellent work.

Well, i have three lights in the scene... The largest one is the the one to the front and left of the ship is set to 200% with a yellow/orange cast. You can see the shadows of it crossing the top of the ship. Then I have one light infront of and slightly above, and a third to the right and slightly behind, both of which are at less then 50% power... Should I turn them down more?
Thanks
