Description This started as a random pencil sketch never meant to be anything, but I just adored Chaka's warm, friendly facial expression. So I decided to move it to marker-worthy paper and do a proper inking of it. That inking sat around since September until I finally got around to coloring it today.

To me, the most note-worthy detail is how I chose to handle her eye and eyebrow behind that large lock of her bangs. This situation is something which all of us with any sort of cartooney style have to deal with. I didn't want to unrealistically define the eye and eyebrow as if her hair was transparent, but hair also isn't completely opaque where it isn't thick. So I did what you see here and personally, I like it.

Inked with Prismacolor pens and colored with Prismacolor markers.

I really like the color you chose for this portrait. They are very warm and inviting, just like the character's personality you see through her expression. I think you did a great job of keeping the freshness and charm of the original pencil sketch when you inked it. Sometimes it's all to easy to loose that touch with the cold precision of inking. It makes me want to give her a big hug.

Wow, lovely colouring and it's great how you chose to handle the hair in front of the eye. I love this character design - you don't see many anthro antelopes (May I draw her at some point?).

Looking through your gallery you seem to improve massively from picture to picture. It looks like you don't upload that regularly but it's obvious you're doing a lot of practicing between uploads.

I've been in art block for the past 3.5 years or so, keeping in practice by drawing Pokemon fan art (which I've been hiding in my scraps most of the time). I do believe my muse is back, and now I'm using what I've learned to resume my usual artistic pursuits.

I love how you put the hatching effect in particular around hair and face and ears, it make a great shadow effect. I know your recent arts use the hatching and it's improved. and I love her cutest expression. I want to see her more.

Oh gods. The coloring job is just amazing, Peachy. I love looking at your art mostly because your coloring skills with those markers are so darned amazing!
The line art is also amazing!
I do like what you did with the eye and eyebrow too. Good to see it like that instead of having a dark line showing where the eye or eyebrow is.
