Sorry if this question was answered before or you found out but make a new layer above the lines layer, add the color you want your lines to be and set the layer to clipping mode. In Paint Tool Sai enable the checkbox called "Clipping Group", in Photoshop right click the layer and click on "Clipping Mask". Tadah, your lines are colored.

I think she added another layer of shading in a slightly different color over the first shading.

Not my tutorial but I can help c:
If you use SAI or Photoshop, make a clipping mask over the lineart and then colour over in the colours you need. c:
If you don't use those programs, I'm afraid I'm stumped. :C

i like how people are like
"this is useless if you cant draw"
so are ALL tutorials on SHADING and COLORING. just cracks me up.
you probably should have told them how to change the color of your lines though. most people know how but even some of them are confused.
and you could have cut out a lot of dumb comments if you put a link to part one in the comment box.

Hehe, I don't get why people say the tutorial is useless. It's only useless if you can't draw from the start. But anyone who knows the basics of working with SAI or Photoshop understands it well. I'll play around with the color style a bit if that's okay x3

not useless, just confusing for newer artists who are looking up a tutorial to learn how to color their first piece.

well, if they're making pony art, they might. New artists draw all sorts of things.

Yeah right. But I think they would look up other tutorials than pony tutorials then in the first place :3

Just lock the opacity of the line layer and then you can color the lines directly(assuming you have nothing else on the lines layer).

You just take the layer with the lines and change the color, it's easy in Sai and Photoshop. Since you can select the layers and change it's color by changing the hue and satoration. There are tutorials on google. Or you just use a bucket to fill in the new color but it isn't as high quality then c:

Would love to know a little more about the linecoloring you did at the end - never looks right when I do it =<
Otherwise lovely step-by-step picture. You have a very cute pony model too.
